Review: Risking the Vine

For this review, I chose Risking the Vine by Gemma Brocato.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Jacqui Bishop’s dating life is dead in the water, but her professional prospects look outstanding. Promised a management position, she embarks on a team building course at a northern California winery. Shocked when her boss promotes a less qualified rival, Jac opts to chuck her job and revive the family farm.

Luscious Luke Rossi has been banished to Team Vino to learn how to be the team player his boss wants. Once there, he finds he’d rather play on Jac Bishop’s team. But a labor dispute and a boss who only wants a yes-man forces him to leave Jac’s side.

As the daytime exercises give way to nighttime passions, Jac learns there’s more to life than a nine-to-five existence. But resigning her job and moving to a farm hundreds of miles from Luke could spell doom for the couple. Their affair will require teamwork of a different kind.

For Jac, the looming question is whether her budding relationship with Luke will thrive or die on the vine.

Luke and Jac are paired together at a team building function that is on a vineyard with gorgeous background.  This gorgeous background provides a romantic atmosphere for Luke and Jac to enjoy.

Jac is not appreciated at her work.  Her company she works for promoted unqualified family members over her.  She realizes that there is more to life than working all the time.  Luke realizes that Jac is the one for him.  Can they realize that they are better working together as a team than apart?

Review: Twisted Up

For this review, I chose Twisted Up by Erin Nicholas.

I requested ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Avery Sparks is a master at controlling chaos—and she gets plenty of opportunities as fire chief and head of emergency management in her hometown of Chance, Nebraska. The only thing she can’t seem to control are her feelings when she’s around Jake Mitchell, the man who was her first everything the night of their high school graduation. But Jake was so quick to leave Chance—and Avery—behind that she swore she’d move on.

While Avery’s job is to minimize drama, Jake embraces the chaos of an emergency. After enlisting in the Army National Guard, Jake became a nationally recognized leader in disaster recovery. Yet a life on the road has left him restless. So when a class-four tornado wreaks havoc on Chance, he’s eager to return home—and to the woman never far from his mind.

Now, Avery and Jake must team up to help their hometown weather a siege of violent storms. But it’s clear to them both that nature isn’t the only force they’ll have to reckon with. Will Avery and Jake’s whirlwind love affair be an all-new disaster—or can they recover from their stormy past to build a future together?

This was book 1 in the Taking Chances series.  Book #2 is Tangled Up.  I absolutely fell in love with the 2 main characters and this town.  Love the title, too.  Twisted Up has so many meanings to me.  Both Avery and Jake are twisted up together than they both can see.  All of the tornadoes has the town all twisted up with worry.  This is set in Chance, Nebraska and everyone is waiting for what happens next with Avery and Jake.

Avery Sparks has had a rough life.  Her grandmother and mother did not treat her well growing up.  All Avery ever has wanted is a family to love her.  Jake and Avery went to the prom together.  They were friends and she hung out at his house.  Now will they put their past behind them so they can have a future together?

I can not wait to read Tangled Up.  I love this town and all of the friends of Avery and Jake's.  I can not wait to read about each of those couples!

Review: Workout Partners

For this review, I chose Workout Partners by Reana Malori.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Michelle Simmons has been half in love with Luke Anderson, the owner of her gym, for months. Little does she know that Luke feels the exact same way about her. One unforgettable night in a hot tub will show these two what having a workout partner really means.

This was a quick read with steamy scenes with Michelle and Luke.  Michelle is an overworked Neonatal nurse, who is stressed.  Getting her exercise routine back is to bring her some relief!  I wished this was longer than what it was.

Review: The Other Side of the World

For this review, I chose The Other Side of the World by Suzanne Whitfield Vince.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Sometimes, love can surprise you…

The Girl:
Rowan McClain has everything a girl could ask for: a handsome, charming husband and a successful career as a romance writer. But when Prince Charming’s affections begin to wane and her mother’s cancer returns, Rowan’s perfect world begins to crumble.

The Guy:
When Army Lieutenant Luke Cartwright arrives in Iraq, the last thing on his mind is falling in love. But when a friend gives him a copy of RJ McClain’s book, he writes a letter to the author using his friend’s name on the return address. After exchanging several letters and sharing their deepest secrets, the two become unlikely friends.

The Happily Ever After?
After a year with no letter from Iraq, Rowan becomes convinced that the soldier she had befriended has been killed in the line of duty. Now divorced from her husband, she moves on with her life. But when her sister sets her up on a blind date with a soldier named Luke Cartwright, Rowan begins to feel as though she has met him before. Will she give into her feelings for him? Or will thoughts of the man she had come to love through his beautiful letters keep her from giving her heart to Luke?

I loved this book!!  This was such a sweet story.  Rowan is a romance author and she loves fan mail.  When she receives mail from a soldier, she is intrigued.  The characters were well developed and I could see this all happening.  I was hooked from page 1.  I can not wait to read more from this author.

Review: Dangerous Illusions

For this review, I chose Dangerous Illusions by Sarah Ballance.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Keep your lovers close, your enemies closer. Especially if they’re one and the same.

Steel Hawk, Book 3

With Steel Hawk still reeling from explosions at Zarrenburg Castle and at its own headquarters, company lawyer Edward Long’s legendary stoicism has been severely tested. It’s clearly an inside job, and no one is deeper inside than Edward—which leaves him squarely in the center of a frame.

Someone is using him to bring down the company he loves. Worse, the PI that Adam Hawk sends to investigate…there’s something off about her. And something that seriously turns him on.

Operating under an assumed name, Sophie Hawk aims to dig deeper into the company’s systems than any other investigator would dare. Especially with the prime suspect’s hot-chocolate gaze tracking her every move.

As their dueling intellects strike sparks, the rising heat threatens the trip wires Edward has set up around his heart—and the secret that ties him to a man who’ll stop at nothing to claim his right to rule the house of Zarrenburg. Or, if he can’t have it, destroy it—and everyone connected to it.

Warning: Contains agonizingly sweet kisses, dirty thoughts, dirtier talk, mutual trust stretched to the limit, and criminal abuse of a thousand-dollar suit jacket.

This is Book #3 in the Steel Hawk series.  This book has suspense, romance, intrigue, and mystery.  Sophie is a strong woman, who kicked butt and ask questions later type of a person.  She is a PI and is hired by her family to investigate what is going on in the family business.  Sophie is to determine if Edward is the one doing the everything in the company or is it someone outside the company?  Edward is a complex man, who is hot and has Sophie thinking thoughts she should not especially since she is investigating him.

Review: Overtime: The Final Touchdown

For this review, I chose Overtime: The Final Touchdown by Jean C. Joachim.  This is the last book in the First and Ten series.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
What happens after the last concussion? How long does an engagement last without turning into marriage? Is an unplanned pregnancy a dream come true or a nightmare? Real life takes over for the Connecticut Kings when the football season ends.
Catch the “play-by-play” for each Kings’ player in this book, the final in the series. With a chapter for each team member, and a few surprises thrown in, you’ll be on the edge of your seat, but satisfied when the final whistle blows. No First & Ten book would be complete without an action scene. But can you guess who’s playing? Read Overtime, and find out.

I loved how this book was written.  Each chapter is a different character.  My favorite character is Harley.  He showed great pride in what he had to do and did not want to mess up.  I love that we got to see what the characters were up to and it gave us, the readers, some closure to the end of this series.

I will miss reading about the Kings, but I look forward to Ms Joachim's new series.

Review: Tape to Tape

For this review, I chose Tape to Tape by V.L. Lochey.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Venom defensive coach Dot "The Shadow" West has made a nice life for herself. She's found a new position on an up-and-coming women's professional hockey team, her daughter is thriving, she gets along well with her fellow coaches and her players admire and respect her. She's proud to have accomplished so much by herself. Everything is running smoothly in her life with no help from anyone, thank you very much.

Sadly, there's one annoying glitch in Dot's new life, and it's in the form of good-looking Theo Grier, former Wildcat goalie and co-host of a controversial sports talk radio show based in Philadelphia, home of the Venom. When Dot loses her cool and calls in to spar with Theo on the air her structured and solitary existence takes a sudden unexpected turn. Before she can hip check the smug fool out of her life she somehow ends up working with him on a new talk radio sports program.

Can she defend her heart against the unwanted feelings Theo is stirring up? Or will she continue to guard herself, and her past decisions, against the offensive moves being made by the ex-goalie? The only man to ignite her passions - and ire - in years?

This is the third book in the Venom series.  Clean Sweep and Twirly Girl are the first 2 books.

I love that us readers can see our favorite characters from the To Love a Wildcat Series.  I love that this series is center around powerful woman, who kick butt on the ice and off!  Dot is the Defensive Coach for the Venom team.  She is a single mother, who has to be strong not only for herself, but for her daughter, who I love.  She sees the world differently.  To me, she is more into books and learning about Britain, where she would love to go one day.  Dot takes pride that she has been doing just great without any help anyone else especially a man.

Theo is an ex Wildcat and has his own talk radio show and he is not on Dot's good side at all.  They are like Oil and Water.  Fire and Ice.  Theo is so full of himself.  Dot makes the mistake of calling into his show and giving her mind.  He realizes who she is and the consequence of her actions is not something she is happy about.  Now Dot has to be on "their" show.  How will this happen when Dot can not stand this man?  Will Theo continue with the male ego he has?  Will she see him as something other than a ??  not sure what to put there.

I am looking forward to reading more from this series and seeing what the Wildcats and their wives are up to.

Review: Must Love Wieners

For this review, I chose Must Love Wieners by Casey Griffin.

I requested ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
LOVE—UNLEASHED. . .

First in a wickedly funny new series brimming with mystery and romance!

Piper Summers works like a dog juggling three jobs to put herself through veterinary school—driving taxis, delivering pizzas, and singing telegrams. Thankfully, Piper has her devoted dachshund Colin to help her keep things in line. That is, until she gets fired...and someone throws her a bone that is too good to resist.

Aiden Caldwell is an Armani ad come to life—a billionaire CEO who’s just adopted a dachshund from the rescue center where Piper volunteers. He’s hot on Piper’s tail to be his personal dog walker...but he may be after more than a walker for his wiener. The gorgeous, spirited Piper is everything he’s ever wanted from a woman—and more. But can Piper ever love, and trust, a man who has never learned to open his heart—or has she bitten off more than she can chew?

Must Love Wieners is the first book in Casey Griffin's Rescue Dog Romance series!

This book starts out funny and continues throughout the book.  It has dogs, romance, intrigue of who is harassing Piper, and much more.  Piper Summers is working herself to the bone.  She is almost done with her veterinary schooling, but she has to get through a few more things before she can be completely done.  Life keeps getting crazy for her than normal.  Piper is working several jobs.  She has too many balls juggling in the air.  One or 2 of them will fall.  Aiden Caldwell leads a boring suit type of life until Piper comes singing into his!!  (ha!)

This is book #1 in the A Dog Rescue Romance series.  Book #2 is Beauty and the Weiner.  I will definitely read more from this author and I look forward to reading Book #2.
