Before we go into the Q&A with Olivia Miles, I wanted to tell you about the author herself.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Olivia Miles is a Chicago-based romance writer. Having grown up in New England, Olivia attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec before settling in Chicago where she lives with her husband, their daughter, and two ridiculously pampered pups.

When she is not chasing after her little ones, she is hard at work creating feisty heroines and alpha heroes with a heart. A city girl with a fondness for small-town charm, Olivia enjoys highlighting both ways of life in her stories.

Here is the Q&A that you have been waiting for:

Q&A

     1. Series are a favorite of my and I love reading about a small town where everyone knows everything and helps each other. How did you come up with the town of Briar Creek? Your characters?

I also love reading books and watching shows set in small towns, usually because of the picturesque settings and the intricate story lines. I wanted Briar Creek to feel much the same: cozy, quaint, and full of drama. I came up with the original three Madison sisters, and it sort of went from there.

2. Besides series being a favorite, I love when the setting is different from what I normally read. Is there a town that you visited in Vermont that was your idea for Briar Creek?

Yes, I grew up in New England and we were always taking weekend trips to various towns. Briar Creek was inspired by my distant memories Woodstock, Vermont, which I’d love to visit again someday!

3. How many books will be in the Briar Creek series?

The fifth book in the Briar Creek series will follow this one. CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAIN STREET releases at the end of September, and it’s one I am really excited about.

4. Do you have a new series coming? If yes, what and how did you come up with it?

Yes, my next series will release in the summer of 2017. It’s set in the fictional seaside town of Misty Point, Rhode Island. I wanted to take a little departure my other books and set a book by the water, while maintaining that small town charm.

I hope you enjoyed the Q&A with Olivia Miles.

Ms Olivia Miles,
Thank you for allowing me the honor to have this Q&A.  I love reading about small towns.  I love the idea that everyone knows everyone and they help when you need it. I am looking forward to your new series and will be looking for it in 2017.
Happy Reading!
Melissa

A small gasp escaped from her but was quickly silenced by the firm press of Brett’s mouth on hers. Unlike their last kiss, which had felt so tender, this time Brett was leaving no room for confusion about his intentions. She stiffened against his touch, trying to resist him, but pleasure pooled warm in her stomach and the space between her legs began to ache as he wrapped two arms around her waist and pulled her to his chest.
Oh, God. She wanted to fight this. The feeling he was stirring within her. The need for more. She opened her mouth to him, letting him in. He kissed her deeply, not giving her a chance to break away, and she wasn’t so sure she could, even if she wanted to. Her hands, which had been pushed off her hips by the strength of his arms, hung loosely at her sides, as if determined to stay out of this drama she was creating for herself, but, like her mouth, they lost the fight. She slid her hands up onto Brett’s arms, taking in every curve of his hard muscles, and up onto his shoulders as she leaned into him. His breath was heavy as he kissed her harder, and she parted her legs to let his slide between and press against the tightness that was building within her.
“What are we doing?” she asked when they finally came apart. She blinked up at him and resisted the urge to flatten his disheveled locks. I did that, she realized with a flutter.
“I don’t really know.” Brett’s voice was low and coarse. “But I like it.”
She firmed her mouth and smoothed her dress. Not good enough.
Turning to stare at the folding table, she felt her spirits begin to sag. She’d let him in again. Let him take her to places she’d wanted, to dream dreams that should have stayed in her unconscious. And nothing had changed. Men don’t change, Ivy. That’s what her mother had always said. When would she learn?
“Well, it can’t happen again,” she insisted.
“Oh no?”
She glanced back to see that slow, sexy smile. “No.” But even as she said it, her body was saying yes.

This is book #4 of the Briar Creek.  I have read book #3 (Hope Springs on Main Street), too, and loved it.  I need to catch up on the first 2 books (Mistletoe on Main Street and A Match Made on Main Street).

This book was about Ivy Birch and Dr Brett Hastings.  Ivy is a florist.  I love that her name is Ivy and she loves flowers!  Being a florist, no man has given her flowers and she wishes that with all her heart.  Every woman loves flowers (I think).  Brett is back in town working at the local hospital because of an error he made.  He feels that to do his best work he must keep those he love at arms length.  I have no clue where Brett came up with this, but with those you love surrounding you, you will do your work much better than when there is no one around you.  Everyone needs a support system.

I am looking forward to reading Book #5 (Christmas Comes to Main Street).  I love this small town of Briar Creek and all of the people in it.  Miss Miles' writing has me hooked on her books and I look forward to reading not just the Briar Creek series, but anything else she has written.

Review: SEALs of Honor: Cooper

For this review, I chose SEALs of Honor: Cooper by Dale Mayer.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
The doctor saved Cooper’s life and his sanity – but she stole his heart.
Being a SEAL means everything to Cooper, so when the doctor who saved his life is kidnapped, he’s the first to volunteer for the mission.
Dr. Sasha Childs has devoted her life to helping others – until she finds out her husband is helping himself to her best friend. Disillusioned, she volunteers her medical skills to a Syrian refugee camp crying out for medical aid.
She’s completely unaware that a war is brewing around her – until she’s caught in the middle of it...
Cooper has his hands full rescuing Sasha from foreign hands the first time, but when the war comes home, it becomes damn near impossible to keep her safe a second time.
He’s been blessed with one miracle in his life, now he needs a second one – before the woman he loves becomes a casualty of war...

This is book #6 in the SEALs of Honor series.  This book is about Copper and Dr Sasha Childs and has so much to offer.  From suspense and humor to the twists and turns, I had no idea what would happen next.  Copper loves his job as a SEAL.  This mission to save Sasha and the team of doctors was personal to Copper.  He would do anything to save her.  She saved his life.

I loved this book from page 1 and I was not able to stop reading.  I wanted to stop when I got to Chapter 12, but it was Chapter 16 before I called it a night (2 am).  I can not wait to read the next book on Markus.

Review: Baby Sheep Gets a Haircut

For this review, I chose Baby Sheep Gets a Haircut by Brooke Williams and illustrated by Robert Kane.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Poor baby sheep has never had a haircut. When the farmer finally gives him a much-needed trim, he gets to see the farm for the very first time. The problem is...he doesn't know what his mommy look like or where to find her!

My son, Ethan, and I read this together.  We love reading books and then reviewing them together.  We both loved the story.  We loved the illustrations.  I love the dedication to Brooke Williams' daughter, but how she writes it: "May you see life clearly and always remember your mommy!"  That is so sweet.  Her daughters will always have these childrens' books that she has written.

Review: Searching for Harmony

For this review, I chose Searching for Harmony by Kelly Elliott.

I requested ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
From New York Times bestselling author Kelly Elliott comes the gut-wrenching story of a love that transcends all odds—and transforms the deepest pain into the brightest hope.

Firefighter and first responder Preston Ward thought he had grown immune to the job’s emotional burns. But when he goes out on a particularly tragic call, he realizes that some scenes are too devastating to forget. And yet, if it weren’t for that terrible night, he never would have met the woman who makes him want to risk his heart.

More than once, Harmony Banks has watched her perfectly ordered world torn apart by fate. Now she’s finding out that what she lost wasn’t as perfect as she thought—and it’s tearing her apart. The only thing that keeps her going is the kindness of a stranger: the firefighter who saved her life the night everything changed.

Preston isn’t like the men who have come before. For one thing, he’s far more genuine. And the love Harmony feels growing between them is almost too intense for her wounded soul. But if she and Preston can push past heartbreak, they’ll find that something incredible awaits in each other’s arms.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

This book grabs you by your emotions right off.  The prologue is so very sad.  Have tissues ready.

Harmony has her own life torn upside down when a car accident left her the sole survivor.  She lost her husband and her young son.  Harmony has to learn to live without them.  Can Harmony move on with her life?  Can she find love again?  Preston is a firefighter/first responder.  He is the one on the scene of Harmony's accident.  He could not save her husband or child.  Preston is lost and he is so very drawn to Harmony.  The only thing that is keeping Harmony together is the kindness from a stranger, Preston.

I can not wait to read more from Kelly Elliott.  This book was well written with the reader having so many emotions throughout the book!

 Excerpt:
Preston pulled my chair out for me as we sat down. We talked the entire time we ate. He told me about growing up in Boston before his father retired to the country. He had two brothers and a sister. His favorite place to be was at his parents’ country house or on the ocean sailing.
I decided to keep the conversation on Preston and he didn’t seem to mind.
Lori walked over and placed the Nutella and Bananas down in front of us.
“Dig in,” Preston said with a smile.
Chewing on my bottom lip, I asked, “Um . . . is Nutella good?”
Preston’s mouth dropped open as he stared at me.
“You’ve never had Nutella? Like, ever?”
Pressing my lips together so I didn’t giggle, I shook my head.
Preston leaned back in his chair and put his hand over his heart. “I’ve so much to teach you. So much.”
Swallowing hard, I felt my face flush.
Oh, the things I wanted Preston to teach me.

Review: The Millionaire's Gamble

For this review, I chose The Millionaire's Gamble by Sarah Ballance.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Wealth has a price. Everyone wants something from you. For one woman, that something was my DNA. One minute, she was kissing me like we were going to strip it down and go
at it. And the next, she was ripping out my hair for a paternity test—and
threatening to torpedo my latest deal. I don't play these kind of games. And that damnably sexy woman with the alluring eyes and mistaken agenda is about to learn that the hard way…

Millionaire scion Jagger Hamilton didn't father Kennedy Price's nephew.
That doesn't mean he can't use the situation to his advantage. She wants
him to take a paternity test. He wants her in his bed.

He shouldn't.

She's blackmailing him, and she's playing dirty. He could try to use the
famous Hamilton charm to turn her into a powerful ally… But she makes him feel… Way. Too. Much.

Kennedy Price isn't asking much. Just for the powerful, sinfully hot, and
notorious playboy to be a decent human being. But he's used to using that
filthy, sensual mouth for getting what he wants.

And he wants her.

She’s determined not to fall for him. But there's no avoiding his charisma,
or his bed, where she threatens to lose more than the standoff between them. She just might lose her heart.

I think this is the best book I have read by Sarah Ballance.  It had me on the edge of my seat, well bed since I was reading in bed!!

Kennedy only had one thing on her mind: to get Jagger to be Owen's father and help financially to his care.  Her sister told her that Jagger is Owen's father, but was not returning her calls.  What does a sister have to do?  Anything she has to in order for the ones she loves.  Jagger has only one thing on his mind: to take Kennedy to his bed, but she wants nothing of that and she gives him grief.

I definitely want to read more from Sarah and I can not wait until I can.
