Cloudy Mirrors by Shane Robert
A Standalone Novel
 Romantic Suspense Novel
Releasing June 5th!

Addiction—I can’t beat it without you; I can’t beat it with you.

When I’m with you, I’m addicted.
The way you taste, feel, and burn will forever be my favorite.

The way you messed my life up is exactly what I asked for.

I had the perfect life but was starving for something more.

Then I met you.

A perfect disaster I couldn’t get enough of no matter what the cost.

Shane Robert spent his whole life a Michigan native until he entered the United States Air Force after high school graduation. Traveling from San Antonio, Texas to Biloxi, Mississippi, he eventually found a new home as an Air Traffic Controller in Salt Lake City where his tower overlooks the mountains of Utah.

He spends the summer playing soccer and the winters skiing while studying Counter Terrorism at American Military University. You can often find him in the tattoo shop adding to his collection, or writing on his sofa with his feet up and the XBOX on in the background. If there's one thing he's good at doing, it's living in the moment.

“This is an emotional star-crossed lovers tale with tangible depths and an attitude that’s relatable to real life.” –RT Book Reviews

Last time Lila Harris was in Happy, Texas, she was actively earning her reputation as the resident wild child. Now, a little older and wiser, she's back to run her mother's café for the summer. Except something about this town has her itching to get a little reckless and rowdy, especially when she sees her old partner-in-crime, Brody Dawson. Their chemistry is just as hot as ever. But he's still the town's golden boy-and she's still the wrong kind of girl.

Brody hasn't had much time lately for anything other than ranching. Running the biggest spread in the county and taking care of his family more than keeps him busy. All that responsibility has him longing for the carefree days of high school—and Lila. She may have grown up, but he still sees that spark of mischief in her eyes. Now he's dreaming about late-night skinny dipping and wondering how he can possibly resist the one woman he can never forget...

TOUGHEST COWBOY IN TEXAS Teaser Excerpt
She picked up her pace, but Brody matched his long strides with hers.
“Don’t feel like you have to walk me my vehicle. I’m a big girl and I’ve been takin’ care of myself for years.”
“You’ve always been able to take care of yourself, Lila, but I want to walk with you.” His hand went to her lower back.
The intense heat would probably leave an imprint on her back for days, but she didn’t argue or shrug his hand away.
When they reached her bright pink truck, he gave a low whistle. “Nice.”
She found her keys and touched a button that started the engine. “I left the motorcycle at home.”
“Oh, really?” His expression said that he didn’t believe her.
“Yep, I didn’t want to get to the bar and have helmet head.”
“Are you serious?”
“Why would you be so surprised? I am, after all, the resident wild child of Happy, Texas. I’m surprised there’s not a picture of me beside the city limits sign warning everyone to steer clear of that Lila Harris. If you rub shoulders with her, you get an instant ticket to hell. Do not pass go. Do not collect two hundred dollars. Just get ready for the ride.”
“Motorcycles are dangerous. You shouldn’t…”
She laid a finger over his lips. “When we were back in high school, I stayed on that bull for eight seconds and climbed to the top of the water tower. You didn’t fuss at me about those things, but wait—you were right there too. Well, darlin’, buy a Harley and we’ll terrorize Happy together.”
Brody stepped closer, penning her against the truck door. She put both hands on his chest with intentions of pushing him away, but she made the mistake of looking up into his eyes. Lashes slowly closed to rest on his cheek bones and she barely had time to moisten her lips before she was swept away by a scorching hot kiss.
She knew she should push him back, but instead her arms went around his neck and she touched his bottom lip with her tongue. He groaned and opened his mouth, deepening the kiss into fiery hot passion. She would have been there until daylight, but he finally stepped back, picked up her hand and kissed her palm twice.
“One kiss for the Lila I remember, and the other for the woman that she’s become. Both are very special.”  Then Brody turned and disappeared into the darkness.

Review: A Charmed Little Lie

For this review, I chose A Charmed Little Lie by Sharla Lovelace.

I requested an ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:

Charmed, Texas... quaint, quirky, and when it comes to romance, there's no place quite as enchanting.

Lanie Barrett didn't mean to lie. Spinning a story of a joyous marriage to make a dying woman happy is forgivable, isn't it? Lanie thinks so, especially since her beloved Aunt Ruby would have been heartbroken to know the truth of her niece's sadly loveless, short-of-sparkling existence. Trouble is, according to the will, Ruby didn't quite buy Lanie's tale. And to inherit the only house Lanie ever really considered a home, she'll have to bring her "husband" back to Charmed for three whole months--or watch Aunt Ruby's cozy nest go to her weasel cousin, who will sell it to a condo developer.

Nick McKane is out of work, out of luck, and the spitting image of the man Lanie described. He needs money for his daughter's art school tuition, and Lanie needs a convenient spouse. It's a match made... well, not quite in heaven, but for a temporary arrangement, it couldn't be better. Except the longer Lanie and Nick spend as husband and wife, the more the connection between them begins to seem real. Maybe this modern fairy tale really could come true...

This is #1 of the Charmed in Texas series.  This is my first book I have read by this author, Sharla Lovelace.  I loved that Lanie Barrett would do anything to make her dying aunt happy.  Now that she told lies to her aunt she is in a pickle!!  Now what will Lanie do?  Get a husband asap or give up?  Get a husband, but where to find one?  Will she lose her only family home she has loved to her cousins, who are very greedy?  Lanie meets Nick at a diner and he gets fired.  He needs a job asap.  Lanie comes up with a plan....be her husband.  He says yes!!  Both Lanie and Nick's lie becomes more.
This is in a small town who's tourist attraction is honey!  This book had me laughing a lot.  I can not wait to read the next book, Lucky Charmed, in this series.

Teaser: Tyson by Kathy Coopmans

#ComingSoon #PreOrder #Tyson

I know what it’s like to have your heart split down the middle.
One-half chases her. The other half chases after the lies, deceit, and betrayal.
It’s a burning ball of hell.
Seconds, minutes, hours, and years all spent endured the depth of my own burning inferno.
All of it runs together while life passes me by.
Thirteen years ago, the woman I was in love with left me standing at the altar.
Hurt.
Broken.
Humiliated.
Some say thirteen is a lucky number.
Me? I curse the number.
Now she’s back.
Reminding me.
Torturing me.
She says things are not what they seem.
That they weren't then either.
Do I believe her?
Do I forgive?
Forget?
Time and truth will tell.

Review: How to Color like an Artist

For this review, I chose How to Color like an Artist by Veronica Winters.

I requested ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
These simple, step-by-step instructions for techniques using colored pencils offer suggestions and exercises for adult colorists wishing to develop their coloring skills. Full-color photographs illustrate a wide variety of methods including creating texture, layering, and blending. The guide also features eight practice plates from Dover's bestselling Creative Haven® series.

I have been buying some adult coloring books for me and my daughter, Ashleigh.  Ashleigh loves adult coloring books and wants to be an artist.

I like how the book starts out with the basic materials that you will need.    I love the giraffe photo.  I did not know that you start with the background first.  Then, the leaves before you color the giraffes.  I love how the author used different techniques and colors for the same photo.

I wished there was more in this book, but other than that I liked it!

Review: SEAL You in My Dreams

For this review, I chose  by SEAL You in My Dreams by Sharon Hamilton.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Special Operator Peter Watson’s next great adventure begins at the Atlanta Aquarium when he encounters a mermaid who steals his heart. But playing with sharks and colorful fish in the Big Tank isn’t nearly as dangerous, or as fun as what happens on land after their meeting behind glass.
Abbey Hart’s summertime job in Atlanta was just going to be something brainless between her graduation from college and the start of her internship at a Sonoma County winery in the fall. But she’s swimming upstream when her travels land her in the arms of a frogman, Navy SEAL Peter Watson.
Oceans apart, who could know that the wonderful week they shared together in Atlanta would turn from fantasy to reality?

I love book on Navy SEALs.  Abbey Hart has 2 summertime jobs before she goes back to California for her new job.  Peter Watson is a Navy SEAL in Atlanta working on an assignment.

Peter sees Abbey working as a mermaid at the Georgia Aquarium, falls for her and he has to find her.  He finds out where she works.  Some of his team members and him go where he can be introduced to her.  Abbey is trying to heal from a break up.  Her ex is not a nice man she has been coming to realize.  Lucky she has a SEAL that will do anything for her.

This was sweet, sexy and fun!! I can not wait to read more in this series so I can learn about Peter and Abbey!!

Review: One Perfect Lie

For this review, I chose A Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottline.

I requested an ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:

On paper, Chris Brennan looks perfect. He's applying for a job as a high school government teacher, he's ready to step in as an assistant baseball coach, and his references are impeccable.

But everything about Chris Brennan is a lie.

Susan Sematov is proud of her son Raz, a high school pitcher so athletically talented that he's being recruited for a full-ride scholarship to a Division I college, with a future in major-league baseball. But Raz’s father died only a few months ago, leaving her son in a vulnerable place where any new father figure might influence him for good, or evil.

Heather Larkin is a struggling single mother who lives for her son Justin's baseball games. But Justin is shy, and Heather fears he is being lured down a dark path by one of his teammates, a young man from an affluent family whose fun-loving manner might possibly conceal his violent plans.

Mindy Kostis succumbs to the pressure of being a surgeon's wife by filling her days with social events and too many gin and tonics. But she doesn’t know that her husband and her son, Evan, are keeping secrets from her – secrets that might destroy all of them.

At the center of all of them is Chris Brennan. Why is he there? What does he want? And what is he willing to do to get it?

Enthralling and suspenseful, One Perfect Lie is an emotional thriller and a suburban crime story that will have readers riveted up to the shocking end, with killer twists and characters you won’t soon forget.

This book has opened my eyes a little.  I have set up a circle of trust with my kids.  If someone is not in that circle, then they do not share information with that person.  It has been awhile since we talked about this and this book made me realize I need to do that.  You never know in this world today what someone really is like behind closed doors.

I can not believe that I have not read any from this author with how popular she is.  I do know that I have wanted to read other books from her and I plan to.

This storyline could happen in real life and that is scary.  It had my mind wondering if it is possible for a man or woman to get a job with a school district in order to pull of some kind of plan.  It frightens me that this man, Chris Brennan, looks for the easiest kid to help him.  It had me thinking would my children do that.  Will they allow someone to use them like this?

I want to thank Ms Scottline for having me think so much about this possibility that I want to have this talk with my children.

Review: Somebody's Baby

For this review, I chose Somebody's Baby by Donna Alward.

I requested an ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:

-Number three [Somebody's Baby] in Alward's Darling, Vermont, series is a fantastic friends-to-lovers tale featuring a true-to-life wary-of-commitment couple.- - RT Bookreviews

Veterinarian Rory Gallagher chose a different path from his brothers, both of whom became first responders in the lovely little town of Darling, Vermont. Rory's always had an affinity for animals--and the ladies. Known for his impressive track record in breaking hearts, Rory never meant to hurt anyone; he's just never been in a hurry to settle down. It's not as if he needs to pay a visit to the town's famed Kissing Bridge to magically find love. He'll know The One when he sees her. . .right?

Oaklee Ferguson is the kid sister of Rory's best friend--and, even now that she's all grown up, remains immune to the pet-doctor's charms. When she shows up at Rory's clinic late one night--devastated after hitting a stray dog with her car--Rory's so-called -bedroom eyes- are the last thing on her mind. Still, his care and kindness toward the dog, and his concern for her feelings, catches Oaklee by surprise. . .and soon the two (and rescued dog makes three!) begin to share a deep connection that neither could have ever imagined. Could it be that love has been waiting for them by the bridge all along?

This is the third one in the Darling, VT series.  #.5 is Get Me to the Church on Time.  #1 is Somebody Like You.  #2 is Someone to Love.  This was my first book from this author and I loved it.

Rory Gallagher is a veterinarian in his hometown.  Oaklee Ferguson brings an injured dog to Rory to see if he is okay.  Over time, they became good friends.  They both have not been very lucky in the love department.  Rory is known for dating someone 1 or 2 times then no more.  Oaklee had someone run out on her (read to find out more).

This was a sweet romance in a small town, which I love to read.  I can not wait to read the other books and I hope there are more books in this series.
