What if the Future of Faith Depended on a Song?
DelivRus, a world-famous Christian rock band, confronts its darkest threat—from the world outside, and from the pride within.
It’s 2041, and a single world government is striving to strip nations of sovereignty and faith. But the music of DelivRus has been a bulwark against the global attack on faith. That has made the band and its leaders a target for destruction.
Tarnished drummer Charley Austin, 21, and untested songwriter Mia Johansen have been called to reunite the famous band for a high-stakes comeback tour that could ignite widespread spiritual revival—or end in catastrophe.
But as they prepare, supernatural forces infect Charley and Mia with pride, turning ambition into arrogance, loyalty into rivalry, and every creative difference into a potential fracture.
What begins as personal tension threatens to destroy DelivRus on the inside, even as external forces are being directed to end the band’s existence in a two-pronged attack of destruction.
With political intrigue and spiritual warfare raging in the shadows, the stage becomes the ultimate battleground—not just for a fractured world, but for the souls of Charley and Mia as faith and pride collide in heart-pounding suspense.

Author Interview
Tell me about yourself. Where are you from?
I grew up in Oregon and spent 26 years in Seattle before moving to Texas in 2000. The Pacific Northwest and Texas environments are notable in my stories.
What book are you reading right now, and what do you like about it?
I just finished Watchers by Dean Koontz and This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti. At the top of my stack are two non-fiction books that I’m reading as background for my next novel. I’m not ready to reveal more at this time about that.
In Watchers, I loved how Koontz braided several seemingly unrelated stories into one suspenseful tale. Koontz masterfully builds suspense to the climax. I appreciate the depth of his characters. There is nothing superficial.
How long have you been writing?
I started writing my first novel in 2017.
What is your writing process like? Are you more of a plotter or a pantser?
Once the seed of an idea has been planted, I create a “plot map,” which is little more than a swimlane flow chart. Each lane represents each of the five stages of a story’s plot. I populate the map (flowchart) with key events in the story. Either before creating the plotmap or after, I will define the book's theme, or the question it explores and hopefully answers.
The plotmap tells me how I’m going to go from point A to point B in the book, and what the Climax will be. It is not a detailed outline. I dislike outlining because, once the plot map is done and I start to write, I want to be fully open to go where the Holy Spirit directs me.
How do you celebrate finishing a book?
My wife and I will uncork a nice bottle of wine.
What would you tell a writer who is just starting out? What program do you use for writing? What advice would you give to a writer working on their first book? What’s your writing software of choice?
I write in Word with Grammarly running in the background. After addressing my editor’s comments, I import the manuscript into Atticus to format and add front and back matter.
I absolutely love Atticus. It’s affordable. It’s simple to use and makes formatting eBooks and paperbacks a snap, which is really important to me because I produce full versions and sample versions of all my works. I’d use it for writing, too, if it were compatible with Grammarly.
How do you organize everything and find the time to sit down and write?
I write as a hobby, not as a job, so my schedule might not be appropriate for others. I write from 5:30 am to 8:00 am four days a week, and three more hours on weekends. I don’t like getting up early, but this is the best way for me to focus on writing.
Who has been the biggest supporter of your writing?
My wife. I must give a hat tip to my beta readers, too.
Charles, Thank you for being here at Always Reading.-Melissa
