Blurb:

She came to Whynot to uncover her mother’s scandal and instantly disrupted the quiet life of the local man who prefers bees to people.

Travel blogger Reese Cartier lives for the rush of discovering the unknown. She’s survived missed flights, bad haircuts, and questionable hostels, but nothing could have prepared her for quirky, southern town of Whynot, North Carolina. She’s here for one reason… to untangle the truth about her late mother’s mysterious past.

Her first clue? A dusty rented cottage on a secluded bee farm.

Her second clue? The infuriatingly handsome, maddeningly quiet beekeeper who owns it.

Eli Hart likes his life simple, which includes tending hives, bottling honey, and avoiding unnecessary conversation. Then sunshine-in-a-sundress Reese crash-lands on his property—literally—sending her drone into a tree over his bee boxes and his sanity straight into jeopardy.

She’s chaos. He’s calm.

She wants answers. He wants her to stop breaking things.

But when the too-curious tenant begins to chip away at her mother’s long-buried secrets, a reluctant partnership is formed with Whynot’s hottest, most reclusive bachelor and becomes a full-blown adventure steeped in the town’s secrets, gossip, and nosiest residents.

Somewhere between Reese’s big questions, bigger ideas, and the way she keeps tripping into his quiet life… Eli realizes she’s the most disruptive thing he’s ever wanted.

A grumpy-sunshine romance full of small-town meddling, slow-burn heat, and one impossible beekeeper who learns that sometimes love buzzes in when you least expect it.

Virtual Book Tour: The Relative Unimportance of It All And Why Everything Matters Anyway by Tony Setley

What if almost everything you have been told about living an important life begins with the wrong question?

The Relative Unimportance of It All: and Why Everything Matters Anyway begins with an unsettling observation: given enough time, nearly everything human beings consider important will disappear. Fame fades, accomplishments are forgotten, institutions collapse, and even the most influential people eventually become little more than names—or vanish from memory altogether. Rather than resisting that reality with promises of legacy or permanence, the book takes it seriously. It argues that the mistake of nihilism is not recognizing that everything is temporary, but assuming that something must last forever in order to have mattered while it existed.

From there, the book shifts the question of meaning away from historical importance and toward lived experience. Every human being encounters life from within a present moment, whether emperor or laborer, celebrity or stranger. That equality of experience becomes the foundation for an ethic of “attentive goodness”: taking seriously the reality of the people and circumstances directly before us. The argument is applied to ordinary life, family, work, pleasure, suffering, loss, ambition, and attention. It does not claim that every action has equal consequences or that every moral choice is equivalent; rather, it distinguishes between the equal reality of persons and the very real differences in need, responsibility, harm, and consequence.

Ultimately, the book embraces the paradox contained in its title: from the perspective of vast stretches of time, very little about our lives may be important, and yet that does not make the lives being lived now meaningless. We do not need to become historically significant before the present deserves our attention. We can love, work, create, strive, enjoy, grieve, and act with goodness precisely because these experiences are real while they occur.

The Relative Unimportance of It All: And Why Everything Matters Anyway is available at Amazon.

Excerpt:

“You are unlikely to change the course of history. You will almost certainly not become famous. Your name will not be remembered centuries from now, nor will your accomplishments occupy more than a passing line in the long account of humanity, if they appear at all. Whatever you build, someone else will inherit. Whatever you earn will eventually belong to another. Whatever reputation you cultivate will fade with those who knew you. There will come a day when, for the last time, someone speaks your name aloud. After that, silence.

This is not pessimism. It is arithmetic. This realization has led many thoughtful people to a bleak conclusion. If time eventually erases every distinction—between the celebrated and the anonymous, the wealthy and the poor, the conqueror and the laborer—then perhaps the distinctions were never meaningful in the first place. If oblivion is the final destination, why should anything matter before it arrives?” (From Prologue)

5 Things You Should Know About The Relative Unimportance of It All

1. You might recognize yourself in it, even before you agree with it.
If you’ve ever had a perfectly decent day and still gone to bed thinking you should have done more with your life, you’ll recognize the problem I’m writing about. That feeling can follow us through work, time with family, and even the things we’re supposed to enjoy. I wanted to ask where it comes from and whether we have to keep accepting its judgment.
2. It opens with a history question most of us can’t answer.
Can you name ten Roman emperors? Take a minute. These people once had an extraordinary amount of power over the world, and now most of their names mean very little to us. I use that as a starting point for thinking about our own expectations. If we’re counting on being remembered to make our lives worthwhile, we may want to reconsider the arrangement.
3. You can read it and still want the promotion.
You can still want to write a good book, build something useful, or get better at your work. I’m interested in what happens when a goal becomes responsible for your entire sense of worth. That’s a lot to ask of a promotion. The book makes room for ambition while questioning why success so often feels like something we need in order to be okay with ourselves.
4. It asks some uncomfortable questions about family.
One is whether calling our children our “legacy” gives them a job they never asked for. They have their own lives to live. What changes if we love them without needing them to preserve something of us? I think that question can help us become more interested in the people our families actually are, including when they don’t behave the way we imagined.
5. It doesn’t expect you to find the bright side of everything.
There are chapters about suffering and loss, and I take those seriously. Some experiences hurt without making us wiser. Some things cannot be repaired. I don’t think people should have to produce an uplifting lesson before their pain deserves attention. Any account of why life matters has to make room for the days when being alive is difficult.

Cover Reveal: The Curious Case of a Mechanical Heart

THE CURIOUS CASE OF A MECHANICAL HEART

A. Ang

Release Date: January 5

Meet A. Ang:

I’m A. Ang, and I write MM dark romance for readers who like their hearts to race, their (book characters’) morals to bend, and their love stories to bite back.

I believe there’s no such thing as pure heroes or perfect villains, only beautifully flawed people, carrying both light and darkness within them. My characters fight, bleed, and fall hard, but I promise them (and you) a happy ending in the end…even if they have to crawl through the fire to get there.

When I’m not plotting heartbreak and redemption, you can usually find me curled up with a book, sketching out character ideas, getting lost in a video game, or untangling my spine on a yoga mat.

Blurb:

One is bound by a secret. The other by duty. They are everything the other  should avoid—yet everything they can’t resist.

First Engineer Kael has spent his entire life hiding a secret that would see him executed for high  treason. In the Empire, where all arcane power is outlawed, he keeps his head down—teaching at  the Imperial University, avoiding others, and living a life that is safe, if painfully lonely.

Until the day Zakh, the crown prince and lord commander of the Imperial Enforcers, walks into  the School of Engineering. Zakh needs a first engineer to investigate an impossible failure: a  mechanical heart, thought to be flawless, has malfunctioned, killing its host. And now Kael is  tasked with finding out why.

The pull between the two men is immediate, inconvenient, and entirely unwise, because Zakh is  the one man in the Empire with the authority to execute Kael without even a trial. As the truth  behind the failure unravels, Kael finds himself at a crossroad: continue living a lie to survive, or risk  everything—his people, his life, his heart—by trusting the man sworn to protect the Empire at any  cost with the one secret that could destroy them both.
