Review: A Most Unlikely Countess

For this review, I chose A Most Unlikely Countess by V.L. Locey.  This is book #2 in the To Love a Wildcat series.  Book #1 is called Pink Pucks and Power Plays and I have read it.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Painfully shy Liz Argon probably shouldn`t be dreaming of Veikko Aho, star goalie for the Philadelphia Wildcats. As she works side by side with 'The Count of the Crease' on his memoirs, she finds herself falling for the handsome goaltender. His tender ways with her and her mentally fragile mother are slowly claiming her heart. If only Veikko wasn`t already engaged to a woman far better suited to move in to 'The Count`s' world. In book two of the To Love a Wildcat series, we`ll see if a glass slipper can survive in the rough and tumble world of professional ice hockey.

Liz is so shy and insecure and complete opposite of Veikko.  Elizabeth was given the opportunity of a lifetime- to write Veikko's memoir.  What would you do if this was your opportunity?  Jump for it!!  Right?  Did it change her life?  Elizabeth's mother is sick.

I love the nicknames that they have for one another- Piglet and Pooh.  It is so cute and sweet.   My favorite part was how a daughter took care of her mother.  Yes, we don't actually know the name of what her mother has.  I am guessing some kind of OCD and anxiety, but I am not sure.  I think the gnomes are a great addition to the book.

My favorite scene is where Elizabeth was in the locker room after a practice getting the guys to talk about Veikko.  It was funny!  You have to remember that Elizabeth is shy!! ;)

I love the To Love a Wildcat series.  I can not wait to read book #3, Oh Captain! My Captain!, about Maggie.   There are 6 books total in this series (Amazon has 6 listed, but Goodreads has 5 listed).  I love reading sports themed books.  I loved Viviana and Alain in book #1.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Review: SEAL The Deal

For this review, I chose SEAL The Deal by Sharon Hamilton.  This is Book #4 in the SEAL Brotherhood Series.

I have read the following books in this series:

Book #1- Accidental SEAL (Audio)
Book #2- Fallen Seal Legacy (Audio)
Book #3- SEAL Under Covers (Audio)
Book #9- SEAL of My Home  (Audio)
Book #10- SEAL's Code

I received a copy of the Audio for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Special Operator Nick Dunn gets the call he has been dreading since before his last deployment. His sister is in her final stages of cancer. He and his Team 3 roommate drive up to Sonoma County from Coronado to help her shut down her failing nursery business and tie up her final affairs.

Nick only vaguely remembers Devon Brandeburg, his sister’s best friend, but boy has she grown up. Last time he saw her was five years ago when he graduated BUD/s and completed SEAL qualification to obtain his Trident. Sparks begin to fly between the two of them, but not in the normal way for Nick. The woman wants nothing to do with him.

Devon Brandeburg has created a small financial fortune through her success in real estate. Her career is her main focus, but a closely guarded secret is her total lack of experience with men. After all, who needs them? Especially when their testosterone-stuffed egos suck all the air out of the room, like Nick’s does.

Nick’s sister requires two things of the both of them as her dying wish. 1. Nick and Devon must find a buyer for the nursery together, not allowing to her nasty winery owner neighbor next door to get his hands on her piece of heaven. 2. They date at least five times before she passes on.

What starts as a deathbed promise turns out to be a hot affair neither one expected. Nick becomes Devon’s teacher in her journey to womanhood. As she comes alive in his arms, the student brings the teacher something he’s never allowed himself to want, and now knows he needs.

In this book, we got a lot.
SEALs
Brotherhood
Passion
Intrigue
Heat
Sadness
Family
Death

I can not believe how sad this was in the beginning and then later on in the book.  Ok.  There was many areas where it was so sad.  Nick's sister, Sophie, is dying.  Her cancer is not going away.  I had so many emotions especially sadness.  Crying at times.  I felt so bad for Sophie.  It was not fair.  She has not done so many things she may want to experiences like falling in love, getting married, and having children.

Nick and Mark (a SEAL buddy) came up to help get Sophie's nursery to sale.  Sophie had some conditions for both Nick and Devon.
1. Find a buyer for the nursery together.
2. Don't sale it to her nasty winery neighbor next door.
3.  Nick and Devon go out at least 5 times together.

I loved the character of Sophie.  She has this great spirit even though she is dying.  Sophie has affected everyone around her in a different way.  I had this feeling when I started listening to this that Sophie does not want her brother to be alone.  I just wished that Mark and Sophie could have had a life together.

Devin is losing her best friend.  She is lost and will be alone.

I enjoyed J.D. Harts' voice much more this book than I have the other books.

Review: Hot Nights with the Fireman

For this review, I chose Hot Nights with the Fireman by Lynne Silvers. This is her first book in a new series called Alpha Heroes.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Everyone in Washington, DC, knows that when the heat is on, you call Valerie Wainright. This brilliant, brassy PR maven can spin any hot scandal, and she's never let a client ruffle her feathers. Yet when she agrees to teach DC's bravest how to handle a media frenzy, she faces an entirely different kind of fire. Keeping things all business and no pleasure is far harder than she expected.

After steamy photos ignite the Internet, firefighter Jason Moore instantly goes from hero to bad boy. While he couldn't care less about an online rep, he cares a lot about his job and saving lives. If Valerie can help clear his name, he'll do what she says-even if it means forcing himself to keep his hands off her. But beneath Valerie's cool cover, Jason feels a smoldering desire that lights his own. And this is one inferno he'll definitely want to stoke . . .

I loved this book.  I love a book about a fireman.  I am married to a volunteer fireman.  Reading books on Firefighters is a favorite of my.  So is SEALs!!

I love that first opinions are not always the case.  Valerie thought of Jason as a playboy because of the reason she was in the department- Photos of him on the internet in a not so nice way.  She did not want to be attracted to him, but she was.  She was afraid of what he will think of her secret that she hides so well.  I knew she was wrong about this.  Jason is a fireman and he probably has seen worse.

If you are going to the beach, grab this book to read.  When it gets too hot for you, you can run into the ocean to cool off!!  I can not wait to read the other books in Lynne Silver's new series, Alpha Heroes!!

Review: SEAL Under Covers

For this review, I chose SEAL Under Covers by Sharon Hamilton. This is Book #3 in the SEAL Brotherhood.

I have read the following books in this series:
Book #1- Accidental SEAL (Audio)
Book #2- Fallen Seal Legacy (Audio)
Book #10- SEAL's Code

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Navy SEAL Armando Guzman has just returned from a difficult tour in Afghanistan only to find his sister still making choices that land her in the company of a San Diego drug gang. Vowing he will save her from the bad environment she has placed herself in, he is blindsided by his sister’s hotter-than-hot best friend, Gina.

Gina Mancuso is working her first under cover detail, trying to prove herself on a male-dominated police force, even if it means she has to work side by side with the SDPD officer with whom she had a brief, abusive relationship. She is not prepared for the chemical attraction that slams her against the hard body of her subject’s Navy SEAL brother, Armando. Their hot affair not only threatens to ruin her mission, but could engulf Armando in a career-ending dispute with local law enforcement.

Armando is unwilling to walk away from his sister, especially as tensions rise between he and Gina’s ex-lover. Gina is in a race for time to keep her secret identity from the man she is now sure she loves with all her heart. But will she have to sacrifice their relationship in order to accomplish the mission she was sent to do?

In this book, we got a lot.
SEALs
Brotherhood
Passion
Intrigue
Mystery
Heat
A little action
Suspense

Sharon Hamilton did it again.  Another great read about SEALs. I knew I would not be disappointed.  Will Armando's sister learn that she needs to put her baby first?  That she needs to trust that her brother is right about how her choices affect her and her baby.

My favorite part is every time Gina interacted with Armando. Their attraction was giving off sparks of electricity. Gina was conflicted about why she was around his sister, Mia, and her attraction to Armando. Will she fight her feelings for Armando or will she give into them. Yes, you need to read to find out.

This week's Waiting on Wednesday pick for me is:
Hot Nights with the Fireman by Lynne Silvers

Publication Date: July 14, 2015.

I can not wait for Lynne Silver's new book,  Hot Nights with Fireman in her new Alpha Heroes series, to come out on July 14, 2015.  Did you see the cover for this book?  It is hot.  There is 3 books in this series.  I will definitely be reading this series.
Book #2 is In Bed With the Bodyguard.
Book #3 is Under the Covers Agent.

Review: To Love a Marine

For this review, I chose To Love a Marine by Reana Malori.  This is a short read.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Captain Scott Henry knows that Sgt. Imani Johnson doesn't believe him when he tells her he wants more than just a fling. Imani believes that Scott is just looking for something short-term and doesn't dare get her hopes up that he wants a real relationsip with her. After pushing him away because she thinks she is protecting both her heart and his career, Imani doesn’t think she’ll ever get another chance. It will take a wedding, a goodbye, several tears, and a whole lot of convincing to make her understand what it means to Love a Marine.

This was such a sweet romantic book.  Yes, I am a romantic at heart.  Imani sees this man when she is heading to her new location as a Marine.  She had this instant attraction to him, but he is off limits because he is a Captain.  Scott sees Imani and has the same instant attraction to her.  Can they both wait to have a future together after she leaves the Marines?  Will she leave the Marines?  Imani is strong and beautiful.

Scott waited 4 years to have her.  He is determined to make her his.  Will he be able to let her go?  Will she be able to let him go?

I do wish this book was a little longer.  Once I started reading, I could not stop.  It was well written and very believable.

Review: Beyond the Bars

For this review, I chose Beyond the Bars by Brooke Williams.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Beyond the Bars is a tense story carried out with the classic ‘Rashomon effect’, in which multiple-viewpoint characters go through similar events, each with a different experience.

A homegrown terrorist rallies several terrorist organizations and convinces them to carry out a meticulous plan. The goal is to rid the country of so-called evil by targeting specific people by location. Using the latest in powerful, military-grade explosives, they set off coordinated blasts at three of the nation’s crowded bus terminals. Hundreds are killed. Fear sweeps the nation. Through five lead characters we see how their lives are disrupted by the terror campaign. Their worlds merge and intersect because of this frightening experience.

Wow, I do not think I have ever read a book like this one.  It has 5 multiple view point characters going through similar things.  It was written so well.  So beautifully done.  I am sitting here in awe.

Jonathan made his decisions, which touched 4 other lives.  Did I feel sorry for him?  No, he made his choices himself with no one telling him what to do.  He was bent on getting revenge.  Will he win?

I loved the love and bond that Nadia and her daughter, Brielle, has.  Nadia would do anything in her power to keep her daughter safe.

I have read other books by Brooke Williams and I will read more from her, too.

Review: Pink Pucks and Power Plays

For this review, I chose Pink Pucks and Power Plays by V.L. Locey, which is my first book by this author.  This is book #1 in the To Love a Wildcat series.
Book #2- A Most Unlikely Countess
Book #3- O Captain! My Captain!
Book #4- Reality Check
Book #5- Language of Love
Book #6- Final Shifts

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Viviana Land just can`t seem to say no to her younger sister. Somehow, the curvaceous society page reporter gets lassoed into serving as her niece`s Busy Bee scout leader. One overheated engine later, Viviana and her girls find themselves in the Green Hills Ice Rink. Enter Alain Lessard, the charmingly handsome defenseman for the Philadelphia Wildcats, who is donating his summer to coaching the youth league.

When our intrepid reporter is given the opportunity to write the break-out story of her career, Viviana leaps at the chance. Thinking it would be easy to flirt and tease some juicy tidbits out of Alain, Viviana soon finds herself falling for the sensual, younger, kind-hearted man. Will she put aside her virtual pen for a chance to stay at her new paramour`s side? Or will Viviana finally get away from those mundane bakery opening articles by using the man she may possibly be in love with?

I loved Violet, Viviana's younger sister, and mother of 4 kids.  In the beginning of the book, I was thinking "wow, this is me at times!"  Violet needed time to herself before she lost it (more than she has).  I have learned when you are stretched too thin something has to give and start saying "No, I can't do that!"  In the last year, I have slowed down a lot.

I love the character of Viviana.  She is full of life, spirit, and anything else you can think of.  I kept thinking that Viviana should not be hiding what she does for a living and should not be hiding about the break-out story she is to write.  It is disaster waiting to happen.

This is a part of the To Love a Wildcat series.  I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Review: Fall SEAL Legacy

For this review, I chose Fallen Seal Legacy by Sharon Hamilton.  This is book #2 in the Seal Brotherhood Series.  I have read Book #1- Accidental SEAL (Audio) and Book #10- SEAL's Code.  This was a stand alone book.

I received a copy of the Audio for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Nebraska born and bred Navy SEAL Calvin “Coop” Cooper, after his own family has perished in a tornado, is ordered to meet the family of a prominent San Diego psychiatrist. The doctor’s brother is a fallen SEAL medic who died in Grenada. There, Cooper meets Libby Brownlee, the beautiful niece of this fallen hero. Heavily influenced by her father, “We don’t speak military here,” is her comment about the military in general, and the SEAL community in particular.

What starts out as a frosty debate between two people privately dealing with their own personal grief, turns into a passionate affair neither expected. Just as Cooper realizes perhaps Libby is the woman he’s always been looking for, she is snatched out from under him by a psychopathic killer bent on revenge.

Dr. Brownlee is forced to rely on Cooper’s help, along with his buddies in SEAL Team 3. Will Cooper be able to survive the loss of the woman he loves, or will his self sacrifice be enough to keep her safe?

Wow!  I can not believe how many emotions I had during this audio.  The beginning was so sad.  Poor Coop to lose his family in a tornado.

In this book, we got a lot.
Seals!!!
Intrigue
Heartache/Emotional
Mystery
Suspense
Hot Sex
Action
Great Chemistry
Action
Romance
Brotherhood

I needed to know what/who/why to what was going on at the Brownlee's house.  Why was this all happening?  Who was doing this?  I was guessing who was doing this from the start of it.  I am not going to say who because I do not want to give away anything that is good!

My favorite part of the book is when Austin, Libby's dad, and Coop interacted.  They had me laughing.  My favorite line from Austin is "She's f*cking him! She thinks she's in love with him."  You need to read why Austin said this.  Each time they interacted, it was like they were a part of an atom, where one of them is the neutron and the other was the proton.  Meaning each time they bounced off of one another---> Complete opposites in each conservation.

It was nice to see that the other SEALs from Book #1 was in this book, too.  I still love Freda's voice.  It still makes me laugh.
This was another amazing read (listen...hehe)!!
