Review: The Breeder

For this review, I chose The Breeder by Lynne Silver.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:

The Dirty Bits from Carina Press give you what you want, when you want it. Designed to be read in an hour or two, these sex-filled micro-romances are guaranteed to pack a punch and deliver a happily-ever-after.

Twelve men are willing to fight and die for her.

Only one will triumph.

In a world where fertility is a rare and treasured thing, Jane—the breeder for Windy City—is ready to fulfill her destiny and repopulate the earth, with the help of the one man strong enough to have her. The man she’s dreamed of for as long as she can remember.

One fight. One winner. One month of uninhibited pleasure. For Ethan, losing Jane isn’t an option. He’s spent years preparing for this battle, for his woman, but marriage and family are a thing of the past, and happily-ever-afters don’t come easy.

No matter the temptation, they can’t stay lost in each other’s bodies forever. The clock is ticking, and Ethan means to keep Jane for always. No matter what it takes.

This book is approximately 18,000 words

For those times when size does matter. The Dirty Bits from Carina Press: Quick and dirty, just the way we like it

One-click with confidence. This title is part of the Carina Press Romance Promise: all the romance you’re looking for with an HEA/HFN. It’s a promise!

I love reading Ms Lynne Silver's books when the idea in the book is not the normal thing that I have read.  Outside of the box type of idea!!  This idea of only those chosen can be breeders was very creative.  It is set in 200 years from now.  Could this be a possibility in the future if something goes wrong with fertility in the major of women?

This book had me sucked into the book before I left the first page. Jane has lived a life without males in it.  She was chosen to be the breeder.  She has to wait to have sex until her mate is chosen for her.  If he can not get her pregnant in a month, then the next male in line has that opportunity.

I hope this is a series!

Review: Claiming Her Master

For this review, I chose Claiming Her Master by Lynne Silver.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:

My virginity in exchange for a Season for my sisters? A bargain.
I would do anything for my sisters.
After our father died, I was forced to do the unthinkable.
I sold my reputation, my future, and my virginity.
To him.
The man who would buy me.
Lucas.
I expected to be in his bed.
I didn’t expect to love it. Need him. Crave him.
He’s got dark secrets, and a future that doesn’t include me.
They warned me not to fall in love.
Too late.

This book was previously released as Mistress in the Making. It has been extensively revised and republished.

This was a quick read.  It had love, loyalty, suspense, devotion to family, and a lot of passion.  Charlotte would do anything for her sisters and she means anything.  Her devotion to her family is unremarkable.  To lose her virginity to a man she does not know just to give her sisters a better life.  If you were in her position, what would you do?

I loved that this was a historical book.  It was like looking in a looking glass to get a glimpse of the past.  Great characters!  Well written!

Review: Worthwhile

For this review, I chose Worthwhile by Lynne Silver.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
The biggest player in town is about to meet his match.

Bienvenidos a Miami! Welcome to the hottest party scene in the U.S.. Where one sexy man in the 305 is about to meet a woman who tempts him to change his wicked ways. And for him, she may be willing to get a little naughty—or a lot.

Drew Weaver is co-owner of the hottest club in Miami, with all the women he wants--until his sick mother moves in with him. With his serial hookups on hold, he expects his social life to sag under the weight of responsibility. But after spending time with his mother and her pretty home health aide, Olivia, this playboy discovers being a homebody may just be the hottest, sweetest deal of all.

Until a rival makes it his mission to tear them apart.

Olivia Rodriguez is the daughter of Colombian immigrants with old-fashioned ideas that she should live at home until she marries a man they approve of. She rebelled in high school with boys--lots of boys. Now a nurse, she's sworn off men, especially Javier, a man who has her parent’s approval. But Javier doesn’t ring her bells. Not like Drew, the handsome, cocky son of her client, who does his best to break down her walls. He is the one guy she can't resist, in any way.

But when Javier shows her evidence of Drew's betrayal, should she give up on him…or is their love and passion worth fighting for?

This is book #3 in the Worthy series.  It was great to be back in Miami.  I loved this couple.  Olivia has lived a very sheltered life because of her parents, who love her, but they are traditional parents.  Olivia wants to live her life her way.  Drew needs a nurse for his mom and Olivia goes after that job.  Being near him has Olivia on fire.  She tries to ignore it, but does Drew feels the same way.

I love reading books set in Miami. Makes me forget our weather here in the Pittsburgh area.  This book grabbed you from page one and does not let go until you get to the last page.  I am not sure if there is another book in this series, but I hope so!

Review: Worthless

For this review, I chose Worthless by Lynne Silver.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
In the sexy heat of Miami's party scene, they discover a new, forbidden addiction—each other.

Bienvenidos a Miami! Welcome to the hottest party scene in the U.S. Where beneath all the glitter, hard bodies and sexy drinks, the lives of the hard-partying residents of the 305 are not as they seem.

Daniel Ross is getting his life in Miami back on track. Common lore says once an addict, always an addict, but Danny's out to prove lore is a moron. After a tough, celibate year of getting sober, a rental room in the home of his sister’s best friend Amy is only a stop on his journey to better things. But the best thing in Danny's life may be right in front of him--the sweet, curvaceous Amy. When they tumble into bed, he discovers a new addiction to her smokin' lips and body.

When Amy Stern agrees to let Danny move in, it’s out of compassion. Her new tenant isn’t supposed to fill her thoughts, and star in her sexy dreams. He's definitely not meant to interfere with her budding relationship with a steady, sweet lawyer. If Amy were smart, she’d design clothes for her plus-sized women’s boutique, date her lawyer, and suppress her longing for Danny. And she'd definitely never touch him. Because once she does, his kisses and his embrace set off an explosive craving neither of them can control.

Now Amy's caught in a love triangle, and she has a secret that she's going to have to share with both men, the sooner the better. Which one of them is worthy of her trust, and her commitment?

This is book #2 in the Worthy Series and is set in Miami.  We met Amy Stern and Danny Ross in book #1.  Amy Stern owns her own women's boutique.  Danny is her roommate and is working hard to get his life back together.   Both of them have things they have to overcome.  Danny has been sober for a year.  Amy has issues with her weight in the eyes of others.  Can they have a relationship?  Amy knows it can be bumpy, but she needs to know if it can be worth it.

To me, love is worth the risk especially if you find the one.  Life is about risks.  Without them, life would be boring.  This book reminded me of this.  Great book and I hope there is another book (or 2) in this series!!

Review: Unworthy

For this review, I chose Unworthy by Lynne Silver.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Bienvenidos a Miami. Welcome to the hottest party scene in the U.S. Behind all the glitter, hard bodies and sexy drinks, the lives of the hard-partying residents of the 305 aren’t all they seem.

Cat Ross struggles to make ends meet. If she doesn’t scrounge up enough cash for rent and to pay off her brother’s drug dealers, she’ll be sleeping at a shelter, and her beloved brother, Danny, will be in worse trouble.

As Miami’s hottest party promoter, it looks as if Ian Lawrence’s life is fun and games, but partying this hard takes work, and Ian takes business seriously. He wasn’t counting on his former best friend’s little sister, Cat Ross, to come crashing back into his life. She was the one girl who mattered until he messed things up by sleeping with her on her eighteenth birthday, and then running.

As Cat and Ian’s relationship reignites, he wants to protect her by keeping her brother away. But it’s not easy for Cat to choose between her last living family member and the man she’s always loved.

This is the first book in the Worthy series.  It is set in Miami.  I think it has been awhile since I read a book with the setting set in Miami.  Cat Ross is trying to keep herself a float, but it keeps getting harder and harder for her.  She is so close to be homeless.  Life for Cat has been hard for her most of her life.  Her brother is a drug addict and his life is affecting her life.  Ian Lawrence is a hot party promoter, who was good friends with Cat's brother.  They had a hot night together when they were younger.

What I loved about this book is the realness to it.  I can see Cat being poor.  Struggling to make ends meet.  Haven't we all been there at one time or another?  As a reader, I was able to see what life for families and their addicts.  The lies, the danger from the dealers if they don't pay, and the worry of if they will survive.

If you are looking for a book that hooks you from page one, then this is it!!

Review: Desperate Match

For this review, I chose Desperate Match by Lynne Silver.

I requested ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
A woman on the run…

Abused wife, Jill Thompson knows she has to get out of her bad marriage. Like yesterday. With no money, no job and no friends, this small town girl can’t find a safe harbor. But when she sees a news report that The Program, a US military base, is seeking women to be matches for their genetically enhanced soldiers, she sees her opportunity. If she is lucky enough to be a match, her snake-mean husband, Jack, won’t be able to find or hurt her ever again.

A man looking for acceptance…

Rowan Blacker is the only soldier of his cohort to request a breed match. He’s the newest soldier on campus and thanks to his genetic defect, he feels like an outcast. Matching and breeding with a woman will help him fit in with the team. Unfortunately Rowan’s match is nothing like the sexy, fun woman he was hoping to romance. The woman they claim is his perfect DNA match, is a scared shell of a woman carrying a trunkful of emotional baggage. Against their better judgment, they move in together and as Jill shakes off the shackles of abuse, their attraction ignites.

I love this series.  With each book from page 1, I was drawn into the lives' of the main characters.  With each book, I fell in love with the entire community of enhanced soldiers and their ladies.

Jill ran from her abusive husband to the only place where she knew it would be safe....The Program.  Now with her match, Rowan, wants to help her and give her the time she needs to heal from the abuse she experienced from her husband, Jack, who is a snake.

I love series.  Getting to read about previous characters and learning what they are up to is a favorite of my.  This series is a must read.  I have already read Book #6, First Match, and loved it, too.

Review: Desire Unmatched

For this review, I chose Desire Unmatched by Lynne Silver.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Genetically enhanced soldier Xander Bristack has spent his life under the imposing rule of his dictatorial, controlling father. Under his father's watch, he is the Program's deadliest and coldest killer. But when Xander is kidnapped by enemies of the Program, only one thing motivates him to escape. His true match, the sexy Emma Harrison. He's been obsessed with Emma from afar, yearning to have her in his life and in his bed, but knowing he should never involve the beautiful blonde in his messed-up world. However, when Xander breaks out of his prison and returns home, Emma refuses to let him keep his distance, enticing him to surrender to the heat between them. She teaches him that passion trumps duty and love doesn't mean blind obedience. His desire for her cracks the shell he's hidden in his whole life.

This is book #4 of the Coded for Love series.  We met Emma in an earlier book when she was saved from being held captive by the geneticist.  Emma answered an ad for egg donation, but she had no idea that she would be held captive in an evil plan.  Xander's father did not allow him to do much growing up.  He had to follow what his father wanted or he would have to be taught an consequence.

Emma was saved by Xander and they both felt the pull to one other, but Xander did not want to have children because of his father.  Xander was kidnapped and he realized that Emma is worth everything to him, but he had to get home to her.

I loved how Emma stood up to Xander's father.  She had this fire inside her and she wanted to protect and love Xander with everything she had.

I can not wait to read more in this series!!

Interview with Lynne Silver

From the time I read the description for Book #1, Heated Match, I wanted to know how Miss Lynne Silver came up with this unique theme for her series.  I was so intrigued.  Genetically enhanced humans?  In college, I took Genetics and my degree is in Biology, Geology, and Chemistry.  That could be another reason why I was so intrigued.

Before we go into the interview, I wanted to tell you about the author herself.
About the Author
Romance author, Lynne Silver, writes the popular Coded for Love and Alpha Heroes series and other hot contemporary romance novels. Before writing romance, she wrote fiction of a different sort, drafting press releases for technology corporations. Washington DC is her home (non) state, where she resides with her husband and two sons. She is represented by literary agent, Jessica Alvarez of Bookends LLC.

Here is the interview you have been waiting for:

What inspired you to write the Coded for Love Series?

Two things inspired me for the Coded for Love series. The first was a visit to my father-in-law’s office. He works for the federal government in a suburb outside of Washington, D.C. It was the most nondescript office building I’d seen, and yet there were armed guards and other security checkpoints. Why? Because, well, I don’t know. There was something secret going on there, and I realized it could’ve been anything…hidden aliens, nuclear bombs or a lab creating genetically enhanced humans.

The second thing that inspired me was two newspaper articles. The first came out around Valentine’s Day talking about the science behind falling in love. The article discussed that each person can smell a potential good made for them. Certain DNA combinations make stronger babies, and the whole dating scene is really a disguise for finding the strongest breeding mate.

The other article was a science article detailing how close scientists are to creating designer babies. Want a boy? Blond hair? You name it, Geneticists can make you your perfect baby. (In case the dating scene doesn’t work out for you. See paragraph above)

All of this combined to give me genetically enhanced soldiers living on a top secret government compound in suburban Maryland who find their perfect matches.

Lynne, Thanks for answering my question.  I can understand about the nondescript office building.  I worked for a company that was underground.  No windows.  We had idea what the weather was like outside.  The only thing that was on my mind that the ground would not give in.  So happy you visited your father in law and saw those 2 articles.  You gave us an unique series to help us escape our lives even for a little bit of time.

Happy Reading all!
I have a second post coming up that has a description of Heated Match along with an excerpt.

Review: False Match

For this review, I chose False Match by Lynne Silver.

I requested ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
The Program: an organization of elite soldiers with superior strength, agility, and intellect. These men put their lives on the line to execute the government’s most dangerous missions.

Kidnapped with her son and forced into helping a rogue scientist with his experiments, Dr. Samara Jones saw no escape. Until the day she was rescued by a group of elite soldiers from the Program. Now under the protection of the Program, Samara is working to prove her innocence—and struggling to control the burning need she feels for Chase Stanton, one of her rescuers.

As laid-back as he is deadly, Chase is a well-honed solider who always responds to the call of duty, whether it’s a life-or-death mission or a scorching night of passion. When he’s assigned to protect Samara, he’s immediately drawn to the smart, headstrong woman, and confides a dark fear to her—despite feeling torn by his suspicions that she could be a double agent. Duty demands he resist temptation, but desire has its own demands . . .

This is the second book in the Coded for Love series.  Book #1 is Heated Match.  Once again, I was pulled into the book from page one.  Dr Samara Jones had no choice to be employed by the Program and live on campus.  No one trusts her.  Samara does not blame them.  She was working for the enemy, but she had no choice.  Her son, Luca, was threatened over and over again.

I can not wait to read the next book, Conquered Match.

Review: Heated Match

For this review, I chose Heated Match by Lynne Silver.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
The Program: an organization of elite soldiers with superior strength, agility, and intellect. These men are willing to put their lives on the line to execute the government’s most dangerous missions.

Journalist Loren Stanton wants nothing more than to break a big story that will catapult her career. But the only item that’s caught her eye lately is Adam Blacker, a soldier whose rugged sexiness sets her pulse racing. When rumors surface that he’s part of a classified government program, Loren has every excuse she needs to get as close to him as possible, no matter what it takes.

As team leader of a covert ops group, Adam steers clear of all journalists, but there’s no denying the blazing passion Loren stirs in him. A scorching night together convinces him their connection is more than skin-deep, still, he’s not ready to let down his guard—his genetic enhancements make him an exceptional soldier, but what woman would want to commit to his high-risk life?

When a dangerous enemy from Adam’s past resurfaces and Loren insists on joining the fight rather than running, he’s forced to face a dark truth. This courageous, loyal woman moves him in ways he never imagined possible. And now that Adam knows she has his back, he also knows that he has to win her heart.

This is book #1 in the Coded for Love series.  Book #2 is False Match.  Book #3 is Conquered Match.  Book #4 is Desire Unmatched.  Book #5 is Desperate Match.  #6 is First Match.

I absolutely loved this book.  The idea behind this book had me at a few questions I have for Miss Silver.  How did you come up with the idea of genetic enhancement soldiers?  I kept thinking about how Adam and Loren were so attracted to one another like a magnetic.  Is that attractive due to the genetic enhancement?

This book grabs you from the first page and does not let go until the end of the month.  It leaves you wanting more.  I know this is my first book I have read about genetically enhanced soldiers.

I can not wait to read the second book, Conquered Match.
