Kelly Elliott is married to a wonderful Texas cowboy who has a knack for making her laugh almost daily and supports her crazy ideas and dreams for some unknown reason...he claims it's because he loves her! She’s also a mom to an amazing daughter who is constantly asking for something to eat while her fingers move like mad on her cell phone sending out what is sure to be another very important text message. In her spare time she loves to sit in her small corner overlooking the Texas hill country and write. One of her favorite things to do is go for hikes around her property with Gus....her chocolate lab and the other man in her life, and Rose, her golden retriever. When Kelly is not outside helping the hubby haul brush, move rocks or whatever fun chore he has in store for her that day, you’ll find her inside reading, writing or watching HGTV.

Review: SEALs of Honor: Dane

For this review, I chose SEALs of Honor: Dane by Dale M.ayer

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
He's one of the smartest, the best ... and the baddest.

Since Dane achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a Navy Seal, his life has been packed with action ... but now he wants more. Especially after seeing several of his friends find something – someone – special.

On a mission hunting a chemical weapons terrorist, Dane runs into a captivating woman, and everything about her touches his deepest needs. But the circumstances are suspicious, and he can’t determine whose side she’s on.

Marielle came to Germany for a short busman’s holiday, only to end up running away from the very man she came to see, and into the arms of a man she knows she’ll never be able to keep.

As their situation slides from bad to worse to desperate, their lives are on the line. And so are their hearts.

Once again, I loved this book!!  I am not sure which one would be my favorite out of the first 3 books of this series, but this one is a favorite of my.  I love the story line.  I love the suspense, too.  Not knowing if the running and hiding is ever going to end.

Marielle is so sweet.  She knows what she wants and does not settle.  Plus Marielle doesn't compromise her beliefs.  She does not want to do harm and won't allow that to happen.  Dane is a Navy SEAL and wants to protect her at all costs.  He thinks she is something special.  Will Dane make his move?  Make her his?

I think my favorite thing in all 3 books is when the SEALs calls dibs on the female they want.  Because if he doesn't, then another team mate might.

I can not wait to read the others in this series.

Review: SEALS of Honor: Hawk

For this review, I chose SEALs of Honor: Hawk by Dale Mayer.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Finding a dead man is a hell of a way to start a holiday.

Growing up, Hawk was always a bit of a wild card. Once he became a SEAL, he found his niche in the world. But the wild man was still there, under wraps …and waiting for a match. Back home for a few days, he realizes a new, darker element has moved in.

And it appears to involve the freckle-faced redhead he never forgot.

Mia remembers her best friend’s brother. After all, what woman could forget him? He was like fireworks lighting up her life. Taking her breath away and making her heart beat faster. But the version that came home was harder, more dangerous ... and sexy as hell.

Good thing he's on their side as the town explodes in violence with Mia caught in the middle.

I loved this book!  Hawk is a sweetheart.  He puts on this tough guy image, but deep down he is so sweet.  Mia is his sister's best friend.  Hawk comes into town, his hometown, to see Mia's father, who owns a store, but he finds a dead man.  Who he is?  Why did he die?  Hawk must find his sister and Mia.

I really loved this team of SEALs.  I think this is my second SEALs series and each one I have read I have loved.  I love the unity of the SEALs.  The brotherhood.  I can not wait to read Dane's books and the rest of the series.

Review: Puppy Love

For this review, I chose Puppy Love by Morgan Kay.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Can Theo outmaneuver her high school nemesis, a persistent ex-boyfriend, and a wayward pup to win the affections of the town’s newest vet?

Theo decides to give up on love when she catches her sister in bed with her husband. Instead of blaming her sister or her husband, she blames herself, divorces her husband, distances herself from her sister, and shuts her heart to love.

Her son inadvertently pushes her back into the dating game when he drops off his puppy, Ollie, as he heads out to deployment abroad. He fails to inform her that the puppy isn’t even close to being trained or even somewhat obedient.

Ollie brings the dating-phobic Theo into contact with Westvale’s hottest bachelor, Dr. Brent Knight. Despite her best friend Lorna’s urging to go after him, Theo hangs back due the eleven year age gap and her past romantic history, but it doesn’t stop Ollie from barreling ahead.

When her high school rival Jenny shows up, Theo decides to fight for her man with comic and passionate results.

This is my first book I have read by this author.  This was a short read and it held my attention the entire time.  This is Book #4 is the Steamy Interlude Series.
Book #1- Blind Date
Book #2- Reluctant Cougar
Book #3- Cub in Love
Book #4- Puppy Love
Book #5- Perfect Stranger
Book #6- Incognito

Another cute story!!  I love that Theo thinks she won't get the man she wants because her high school rival shows up and wants him for herself.  This rival is slutty!!  Being slutty may have gotten her men in high school, but as a grown woman, most men does not like that.  They want someone elegant.  Theo does not drop to her rival's level, but keeps her head high and is true to herself.  I love that Brent is a vet and loves animals as much as Theo.  Theo is helping her son with his dog, Ollie, who is not trained at all.

I gave 4 stars because I did not think it was exactly erotic.  It was not like the other books I have read in this genre.  I also wanted to know more about what happened between Theo and Brent.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Review: Cub in Blue

For this review, I chose Cub in Blue by Morgan Kay.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Deidre’s matches from the misnamed Hot Singles dating website results in dates where middle-aged men complain about their lives in a family style restaurant. Deidre’s part was to reassure them it wasn’t so bad. No wonder her best friend, Lily, nicknamed them therapy dates. It was time for a change.

Call it an impulse move born of desperation, but she finally caves into Curt, a policeman who recently returned to duty after being shot in a sting operation, who wasn’t taking no for an answer. Going out with a cop, fourteen years her junior was an irrational thing to do her friend helpfully pointed out. Meeting Curt for drinks was just the beginning. Deidre was unsure how to handle her recovering hero, and her growing affection for the young alpha male. The real question was would Deidre be able to overcome her doubts and peer pressure to live the life she always fantasized about having?

Book #1- Blind Date
Book #2- Reluctant Cougar
Book #3- Cub in Love

This one was so cute.  Deidre wants to find a good man.  One who loves her.  Deidre uses a dating site to find a date.  Each date has been awful.  Her friend, Lily, tells her it is time for a change.  So, She decides to date a younger man, Curt, who is returning to duty after being shot.  He is so sweet with Deidre and does not push her.  Will Deidre face her fears and listen to her heart and not her doubts?  Will she find true love?

I gave 4 stars because I did not think it was exactly erotic.  It was not like the other books I have read in this genre.  I also wanted to know more about what happened between Deidre and Curt.

Review: Perfect Stranger

For this review, I chose Perfect Stranger by Morgan Kay.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Cinda isn’t ready to become a glorious butterfly. She’s still in the caterpillar stage with her generous curves. All she really wants is for a man to appreciate who she is. The way Jack did when they met at the airport. They shared a romantic day as they both waited for their flights. He kissed her goodbye and tucked his card in her suit pocket with instructions to call. It figures she’d lose his card. Luck never dealt her a romantic winning hand, but it’s time to reshuffle the cards.

Six months fantasizing about Jack was enough. Raven determines not only to help her friend to become the butterfly she is, but also to give her friend a gift she’ll never forget. Cinda voices her doubts about attending the masquerade ball. Raven reveals that Santa left her special gift at the ball. Her job is to retrieve it.

This was a short read and it held my attention the entire time.  This is Book #5 is the Steamy Interlude Series.
Book #1- Blind Date
Book #2- Reluctant Cougar
Book #3- Cub in Love
Book #4- Puppy Love

I love this book.  The idea of meeting someone and getting their card, but you lose it.  How do you contact that person?  Cinda keeps thinking of Jack and all the details from that night she met Jack.  How could she forget details from that night?  Will the masquerade ball change her life?

I gave 4 stars because I did not think it was exactly erotic.  It was not like the other books I have read in this genre.  I also wanted to know more about what happened between Cinda and Jack.

Review: The Keys to the Holiday

For this review, I chose The Keys to the Holiday by Meg Mims.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
THE KEY TO LOVE
A VALENTINE'S DAY NOVELLA - Artist Jennette Jacobson clashes with a handsome visitor at a gallery show, claiming artwork is just "more junk to dust." When she finds a small metal object, she uses it in a lovely new collage. When the same hunky guy claims he lost an important key at the show, he offers to buy Jenn's work. She refuses to sell. He'll just trash it to free his precious key. Or will it unlock a future romance?

THE KEY TO CHRISTMAS
A CHRISTMAS NOVELLA - Jennette Jacobson and Steve Harmon have been in love since the Groundhog Day blizzard in The Key to Love threw them together. Now they're engaged, but family troubles still plague them. Jenn's parents are battling even after divorce, and Steve's family isn't as perfect as they appear. Add in pressure to finalize their plans for the wedding, plus vandalism at their art gallery, and the busy holidays - will their love see them through?

These are my first 2 books that I have read by this author.  In The Key to Love, we meet Artist Jennette Jacobson at her one art show where she meets Steve Harmon, who did not want to be there, but went for his friends.  Steve lost a key.  Jennette found it and put it into a collage she made.  My favorite part of this novella is the key and what it means.  I could not believe the secret Jennette's dad was keeping.

In The Key to Christmas, Jennette and Steve are now engaged and trying to finalize their wedding plans.  They have to go through things like the vandalism and planning of their wedding.  Will Jenn and Steve survive through everything they have to go through?  Will they pick a date?  I felt so bad that Jenn has to deal with Tiffany once again and add in the person who is out to get her.  Who is this person?

Review: Animal Planet Ocean Animals

For this review, I chose Animal Planet Ocean Animals.

I requested ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Animal Planet's R.O.A.R. (Reach Out. Act. Respond.) project which partners with leading animal organization to make the world a better place for domestic and wild animals.

Beautiful colorful  pictures.  Very educational.  My favorite was the Green Sea Turtles.  One day I will get my kids and husband to see the baby turtles going into the ocean.  I just need to know where and when.  I never heard of the Giant tubeworm. Another favorite are the dolphin and humpback whale.  Never knew a squid could break a crab's shell.  Ouch!!  A mama octopus is dedicated to her 56,000 eggs.  Wow!  I did not know that Belugas can imitate other animals.  The best thing in this book is the resources.  They list the places you should visit like the Shedd Aquarium, which we have been to and loved it.  We would love to go back.

I definitely want to buy this book for my daughter.  She loves reading about ocean animals and I know she would love this book.

Review: The Reluctant Cougar

For this review, I chose Reluctant Cougar by Morgan Kay.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
A sexy, younger man pursues Ashlee; she’s almost decided to let him catch her.

The very last thing Ashlee expected was to meet a hot, younger guy Nick, at her boyfriend’s funeral. The tall, soft-spoken man comforted her with stories of her boyfriend since he studied under him. Grateful for Nick’s help and the mutual connection they both shared with the deceased, they kept in contact.

Ashlee managed to ignore his hints for drinks and meetings, putting it down to politeness. He felt sorry for her. There was no way he could be interested in a woman at least a decade older than he was. That was until her work posse caught scent of the story and urged her to give the man a chance. Ashlee knew she had to be the most reluctant cougar in the history of womankind, but what did she have to lose?

This was a short read and it held my attention the entire time.  This is Book #2 is the Steamy Interlude Series.
Book #1- Blind Date
Book #2- Reluctant Cougar
Book #3- Cub in Love
Book #4- Puppy Love
Book #5- Perfect Stranger
Book #6- Incognito

This book was about having a second chance at love when you have lost the one you love.  I loved that we saw Ashlee's boyfriend in the eyes of Nick.  That she was able to see that her boyfriend loved having her in his life.  Ashlee is a strong woman, who put her needs aside so she could comfort her boyfriend's family.  I love how they opened their hearts to her.  Ashlee meets Nick at her boyfriend's funeral.  She did not think she would meet a hot younger man there.  But, Ashlee had to focus on her grieve first before she could think of finding someone new.  Nick gave that time she needed and did not push her.  He was so sweet with her.

I gave 4 stars because I did not think it was exactly erotic.  It was not like the other books I have read in this genre.  I also wanted to know more about what happened between Ashlee and Nick.

Review: Blind Date

For this review, I chose Blind Date: An Erotic Romance by Morgan Kay.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
A mysterious man gives Darla the weekend of her life.

Darla never had time for love. Even though she worked in the perfume industry that epitomizes romance. No appropriate male ever wandered into the picture. Maybe that’s why she accepted her friend’s suggestion to fix up her up. Desperation and a desire to make sure she even remembered how to act like a woman as opposed to a corporate warrior.

Too bad, her arranged date fell on the eve before her meeting with some hot shot Italian nobleman she needed to sign for her company’s continued success. Even more ironic, her blind date Alex besides being the poster child for all things delicious had a sexy Italian accent. The accent alone should have reminded her of the need to prepare for her meeting. Instead charmed by his old world manners and animal magnetism she allows him to take charge and forgets about business. Two things she’s never done before.

This was a short read and it held my attention the entire time.  This is Book #1 is the Steamy Interlude Series.
Book #1- Blind Date
Book #2- Reluctant Cougar
Book #3- Cub in Love
Book #4- Puppy Love
Book #5- Perfect Stranger
Book #6- Incognito

I met my husband on a blind date, but I had my friend there with me with her boyfriend, who is friend's with my husband.  This book I loved the idea of a blind date because it was how I met my husband, but I was intrigued with the idea of the what ifs with this short book.  What if Darla went the man she was to meet?  Would she have that kind of chemistry with him?  I think not.  What if the man she did meet told her who he was?  Would Darla say goodbye before she knew that he could be "the one"?  I have read book #6, Incognito and this one so far in the series and this book is my favorite.  Not sure if that will be the case when I finish the others.

I gave 4 stars because I did not think it was exactly erotic.  It was not like the other books I have read in this genre.

Review: A Place to Call Home: Toby's Tale

For this review, I chose A Place to Call Home: Toby's Tale by GA Whitmore.

I requested ARC copy of the ebook through Netgalley in exchanged for a honest review.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
A Place to Call Home is the heartwarming and inspiring story of an abandoned white German shepherd puppy named Toby and his cross-country search for a forever home. Narrated in part by the animal characters in the book, the reader experiences Toby’s world through his eyes and those of the animals he meets on his journey.

Toby’s life begins on a farm where the carefree, happy days he has known come to an abrupt end when his breeder decides to “dispose” of him and his sister Tara because of the color of their fur. With the help of a kind farmhand, the two puppies escape unharmed.

After a tumultuous time during which Toby is shuffled from place to place, he is finally adopted, but he quickly realizes his new family has deep-seated issues that put him in danger, and what seemed like an ideal home, turns into another place he must escape from.

As Toby struggles to find a forever home where he can feel safe and secure, he experiences some painful losses, but he also makes new friends—friends who will help him to trust humans again and teach him the power of love.

Inspired by a true story, this middle grade/young adult novel can be enjoyed by dog lovers of all ages.

This was  the best book I have read that is about dogs.  Oh my!  The point of view was from Toby, a puppy.  We also got background information how Toby's grandparents met.  When I was reading this book, I was laying in bed with my dog, Zeus, who has been a loyal dog since we got him 10 years ago.  I was thinking about Zeus leaving his mom and siblings.  How he must have felt?  Sad and scared.  Going to a new home where he knew no one.  I think of the other animals he has met over the years with us.  What did Zeus think of them?  Especially our other dog, Bolt, who is my son's dog.  How did Zeus feel when we brought him home almost 4 years ago?  Was he happy?  Mad?  Angry?  I was then thinking how Zeus' mom felt when her puppies left one by one.

This book made me appreciate Zeus and Bolt more.  Thank you for that.

Review: SEAL Brotherhood: Fredo's Secret

For this review, I chose SEAL Brotherhood: Fredo's Secret by Sharon Hamilton.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Navy SEAL Alphonso "Fredo" Manuel Esquidido Chavez learns something he does not want to tell his wife, the beautiful Mia Guzman, Armando's sister. He worries she will no longer love him when she finds out the news. But just as one door closes, another opens for Fredo and Mia. And along the way he manages to help redeem a struggling youth, who reflects some of the darkness of his own past.

Book #11- True Blue Navy (haven't read yet)
Book #12- Nashville SEAL (haven't read yet)
Book #13- Fredo's Secret (Audio)

Fredo is my favorite character in this series.  I love how JD Hart does his voice.  Fredo has a secret and he is afraid to tell Mia.  Keeping secrets do not work.  That secret comes out anyway.  It is better to face the one you love and tell her before she finds out another way.  Mia has been through so much and it is finally nice to see her and Fredo happy and in love.  More than anything all she wants is Fredo, who needs to realize this on his own.

I can not wait to read/listen to the other 2 books in this series!

Review: SEALs of Honor: Mason

For this review, I chose SEALs of Honor: Mason by Dale Mayer.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Kill or be killed.

Part of an elite SEAL team, Mason takes on the dangerous jobs no one else wants to do – or can do. When he’s on a mission, he’s focused and dedicated. When he’s not, he plays as hard as he fights.
Until he meets a woman he can’t have but can’t forget.

Software developer, Tesla lost her brother in combat and has no intention of getting close to someone else in the military. Determined to save other US soldiers from a similar fate, she’s created a program that could save lives. But other countries know about the program, and they won’t stop until they get it – and get her.

Time is running out... For her... For him... For them...

This was my first book I have read by Dale Mayer and it will not be my last.  This is the first book in the Seals of Honor series.
Book #1- Mason (Released January 31)  Book #2- Hawk (Releasing February 9)
Book #3- Dane (Releasing February 16)
Book #4- Swede
Book #5- Shadow
Book #6- Cooper

Mason is a Navy SEAL and was sent on a mission with his team to rescue a woman.  It was simple.  Find her.  Rescue her.  Go to the next mission.  Not that simple to do for Mason.  The woman he is to rescue is Tesla Landers.  Telsa was kidnapped because of a program she developed to be able to help save military men and women like her brother, Harry, who was killed.

Telsa is a strong independent woman, who will tell you how it is.  Mason has found his match.  Nothing phased Tesla and I loved that.  Everything that was thrown at her Tesla did not complain at all.

I enjoyed this book a lot.  I can not wait to read the others.  I posted the release dates above with the first 3 books.  I do not know when the last 3 are being released, but they were inside this book.

Review: Incognito: Dating the Enemy

For this review, I chose Incognito: Dating the Enemy by Morgan Kay.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Dating’s tough in small towns. The smart women gobbled up the town’s eligible bachelors while Teresa obtained her degree out of state. Back home in Kentucky and teaching at the local high school, she finds herself competing for the attention of the taxidermist with a tricked out truck and a dentist who thinks he’s the reincarnation of James Dean. The best she can do is covertly date in surrounding small towns, but she’s almost fished those ponds out too.

A sexy stranger appears in her adult education class. The man is definitely no townie with his exotic looks and even stranger accent. It’s obvious he’s lying about why he’s in her class, but that doesn’t dampen his appeal. There was a rule against staff and students fraternizing, but she might be tempted to break it.

This is my first book I have read by this author.  This was a short read and it held my attention the entire time.  It had romance with a little bit of intrigue of who did it.

This is Book #6 is the Steamy Interlude Series.
Book #1- Blind Date
Book #2- Reluctant Cougar
Book #3- Cub in Love
Book #4- Puppy Love
Book #5- Perfect Stranger
Book #6- Incognito

Teresa is a good hardworking woman, who has followed the rules her entire life until she meets Marcus.  Marcus is hot, charming, and with an accent.  He is working at the college where Teresa works, but she thinks he is auditing her class.  Teresa knows things are up with him, but does not want to know the entire story of who he really is.  She wants him to be a good decent guy, but is he?   I kept thinking who was the guilty party at the college.  I do not think this was Teresa at all.  I think that would be out of her character and she sticks within her beliefs a lot.  I love the pool scene.  I kept thinking how far away are the neighbors.
