Release Blitz: Make Me Exhale by Marie Johnston

Title: Make Me Exhale
Series: Oil Barrons #5
Author: Marie Johnston
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Tropes: Small Town, Grumpy/Sunshine, Age Gap
Release Date: April 4, 2023

BLURB

Trust fund? Check. Plans to restore an old train foundry into a brewery? Check. Grumpy project manager? Sigh . . . check.

If I wanted to deal with a man just like my uptight dad, I would’ve told my parents what my brewery plans were. Only I didn’t tell anyone. I waited for my trust fund to deliver once I turned twenty-five, and I bought the old train foundry I’d been eyeing for years. Then McCoy Cunningham shows up.

I’m told he’s the best. He’s older than me and knows both sides of the business—the restoration and the brewing. But all I’ve gotten from him are scowls and dismissive grunts. McCoy might think he’s the expert, he might look at me like I should be in diapers with pigtails, but he’s wrong if he thinks he can bulldoze me.

All it takes is one look. One time I catch him eyeing me with something other than disdain. One conversation where we’re geeking out over yeast strains and hops. One kiss that leads to more.

I promised myself I’d never settle for a guarded man who thinks he knows everything, especially one who won’t put me before business. And after what McCoy's been through, he’s all about work. No personal entanglements. The last thing I need is to be left with flat beer and a broken heart.

Release Blitz: Make Me Dream by Marie Johnston

Make Me Dream by Marie Johnston is now live!

Being ghosted by my best friend's brother was easier to get over than the pink positive sign I got six weeks later.

With our ten-year age difference, I didn't think I was more to Stetson Barron than his little sister's quirky best friend, the one with store-bought hair color and thrifted clothing. Until one hot summer night at his cousin's wedding when I climbed him like a water tower.

And then he didn't talk to me for weeks afterward.

A pink plus sign and a panic attack later, the trailer house I share with my mom burns down. Stetson shows up at the ER like a country knight on a diesel-powered steed, arranges a place for my mom to stay, and takes me home with him.

The weeks of radio silence after our hookup have left me wary. Being with Stetson should be a fantasy come to life, but I'm waiting for my prince to ride away. I'm not the type of woman his parents want him to be with, and they'd rather pretend there's no baby than welcome me to the family. My mom was in the same situation once, and I've learned her lesson--alone is better than abandoned.

When Stetson is forced to choose between his new family unit and old family expectations, will he prove to be the man of my dreams? Or am I in for a heart-breaking wake-up call?

Release Blitz: Make Me Whole by Marie Johnston

Title: Make Me Whole
Series: Oil Barrons #1
Author: Marie Johnston
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 18, 2022

BLURB

I had a perfect life. Schoolteacher. Married to my high school sweetheart. Little starter house that we called charming but was really just old. All I needed was the two-point-five kids and I’d be living my perfect dream. Then my husband died.

After the funeral, I had a breakdown that lasted for a month…or twelve. But now I’m reemerging, healing, finding my way. It’s time to learn who I am now, and whether or not I can fix a leaky sink. And by my side, the entire time, is my husband’s best friend, Liam. The single dad knows a thing or two about personal struggles, and about how to replace faucets.

With Liam, I feel alive again. Confident. Capable. Liam has become my best friend too. Except if my parents, my in-laws, and the rest of the town had any say, I’d stay far away from him and his bad boy reputation.

How do I admit to them what’s so hard to admit to myself? That I’m starting to look at him like he’s more than a friend. That the heat in his eyes when he looks at me is far beyond friendly. That like it or not, Liam makes me feel whole again.

EXCERPT

Blinking to adjust to the dimmer light, it wasn’t hard to find Liam. Sparks flew from the far corner, where the light from the open door had the hardest time penetrating.
The torch Liam held went dark. He flipped his face shield up so it rested on top of his head. “Hey. That time already? The afternoon got away from me.”
He set his equipment on the work bench by the hunk of metal he’d been working on. He slapped his thick gloves down and took the face shield off. Then he shrugged out of his well-worn leather apron.
I blinked again, but it had nothing to do with lighting. His long-sleeved blue T-shirt with the logo of a bar and grill in Williston was plastered to his chest and back. A smattering of singe holes gathered around the collar and a few tiny ones on the sleeves where the apron didn’t reach. Liam adjusted his shoulders like he was trying to dislodge the fabric from his skin, but all the move did was make his muscles ripple.
I’d known Liam wasn’t the same lanky kid from high school, but I’d never had proof like this.
He ran a hand through his hair—same effect. Biceps bulging and rippling muscle.
My brain snapped a picture, like someday I might need to reference the type of man that could get my libido going again.
Which I wasn’t looking for. Dating wasn’t on my radar, much less…activities beyond that.
Although recently I’d been thinking… I gave myself a mental shake. My therapist said there was nothing wrong with thinking about dating someday. Nothing wrong with dating itself. Nothing wrong with not being ready. Nothing wrong with dating while still not feeling ready. I hadn’t reached that point yet. And I didn’t have to think about it at Liam’s.

This is Book #1 in the Oil Barrons Series.  Kennedy has been through so much in her young life. Can she move on from losing her husband? Can Liam help me? What would you do if you lost your husband?

I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I pulled up to her place and hopped out. I didn’t bother knocking. Since she wasn’t in the kitchen, I headed for the bathroom. The light filtered into the hall.
I rounded the corner and stopped. Kenny was half buried under the sink, her butt in the air. It was the finest ass I’d seen. Round, firm, and swaying from side to side as she mopped up water with a towel.
My gaze was glued to her backside when she sat on her heels and popped her head out. I blinked and shook my head as if it could reorient blood back to my brain and away from my dick. “So, tell me again what happened.”
She jumped and twisted around. My lips quirked. She was a mess. Half her shirt was soaked, part of it plastered against her breasts. I tried, hard, not to look at the way her nipples fought the constraints of the material.
Her appearance didn’t change how my body was reacting. Her hair spilled out of a bun and stuck to her face from either the water or sweat. She was flushed and breathing heavily, as if it wasn’t hard enough to keep my eyes above her neckline.
“I’m so glad you’re here.” She pushed off the floor and dumped the wet towels into the bathtub. Sticking her hands on her hips she gestured to the sink. “I fixed that damn thing. Remember I told you I did it? And then it started leaking again. So I thought I’d put in a new faucet, cuz now I’m a superwoman or some shit. Only I fixed the toilet first. See?”
She flushed, then winced. “I forgot the water was off, so you can’t witness the tank refill, but it will. And it won’t leak.”
I didn’t fight my smile. This was rare Kenny. Rambling, flustered, and a little pissed off.

Release Blitz: King's Treasure by Marie Johnston

Title: King's Treasure
Series: Oil Kings #3
Author: Marie Johnston
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 8, 2021

BLURB

I’m from a rich family, have domineering parents that I still live with, and I went to college but can’t get taken seriously in my chosen field.

Can I be any more of a cliché?

Yes, I can. I just woke up married in Vegas. But my new husband will get me the freedom I’ve been looking for. With him by my side, I won’t get married off to some well-bred rich boy of my dad’s choosing. I’ll be free to pursue my passion for environmental protection. Until my new husband Xander tells me the last name I didn’t catch before I signed the papers and said “I do.”

***

My dad’s the King Oil CEO, not me. I’m the son that makes him wonder what he did wrong, spending my time roaming the world, avoiding home so I don’t have to tell my billionaire dad and accomplished brothers why I’m broke and jobless.

My environmentalist wife wants an annulment as soon as she finds out who I am, until I tell her my reason for getting married. My millions of reasons from my trust fund.

All Savvy has to do is stay married to me for a year and then she gets half. We can go our separate ways after 365 days. Except I want more than a year. Somehow, as a guy who has committed to no one and nowhere his entire adult life, I have to convince her to give me a lifetime.

EXCERPT

“Xander and I got married last night. Xander. This is my dad. Walter Abbot.”

Xander released my hand to hold his out. “Nice to meet you.” He was so steady, not at all intimidated.

Chief continued to pretend Xander didn’t exist. “I would’ve thought you were smarter than being taken by a guy who’s after your money.”

“Like you often tell me, I have no money, and I never told him that my family is wealthy.” I chanced a glance at Xander. His brows were only slightly lifted. He was surprised, but the news otherwise had no bearing on his demeanor. But he didn’t know how wealthy my family was.

“People like him know. Just like you should know better. If it’s not the money, it’s the . . .” He waved his hand, his face deepening from red to purple.

Xander stepped in. “Savvy has a lot more to offer than her wallet or her looks.” He took my hand again and it was all I could do not to hide behind him. His words probably made things worse, but I appreciated the effort. It was already more than any previous date had done.

Chief zeroed in on Xander, like my new husband was an enemy sniper hiding in the backyard. “And what is it, exactly, that you do?”

One of the men hanging out in the entry of the restaurant wandered out, his gaze drifting over me.

Gentry King. The man I’d worked so hard to impress yesterday was about to witness Chief humiliating me. I hoped he was too busy and disengaged from the daily details of his work to realize the professional Sapphire Abbot he was supposed to have met with yesterday had shown up today married to a guy her dad hated.

Mr. King wasn’t any different than his pictures, but his presence packed a punch. He was almost as tall as Xander, his shoulders just as broad, but his expression was much less hostile than Chief’s. No doubt he was putting two and two together and figuring out I was Chief’s daughter. I wouldn’t have believed the power he held over Chief if my father didn’t visibly calm down the instant Mr. King stepped closer to us. This account was extremely important to Chief. My mini-crisis was averted. He’d hold himself together through the meal, but I’d get another berating afterward.

Mr. King’s gaze left me and landed on Xander. His brows rose, his eyes filling with curiosity, but also brightening, like he was happy to see my husband. “Xander? What are you doing here?” Before I could muddle through how Gentry King knew my new husband, Xander said, “Hi, Dad.”
