Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000447_00006]
I’m the jokester, the one who pulls the best pranks. I’m the guy in the house who the frat brothers avoid for fear of what they’ll wake up to face the next day.
But now, the jokes on me. Literally on me! In BIG. BOLD. BLACK LETTERS!
A tattoo, of another guy’s name. I was branded, and no one else can know.
The problem is I don't know how it got there? Who the hell is Blake? Worst of all why the F*ck did I have a guy’s name tattooed on my wrist to begin with? What could have possessed me?
I’ve done a lot of things, tortured a lot of my brothers, and I’ve loved every single minute of it.
I guess it’s payback.
The only things I remember are…dark hair, smelling of sweet honey and maybe something floral, soft hands, and the sweetest laugh.
So tell me, how I can get from a memory like that, to waking up in the backyard beside the pool, with a F*ucking tattoo? Of a dude’s name?

Oh Tequila, what have you done now?

attractive girl in a bar with shot of alcohol
EXCERPT: Ever had this feeling like you’re being watched? Like each move you make is being analyzed, dissected, and documented for later use? No? Well, I have. It was a lingering feeling ever since the moment I’d been challenged by Clayton. Everywhere I turned there he was. The guy was a god damned freak, watching me out of the corner of his eye, silently observing. It was annoying and if the asshole expected me to get a buzz he’d need to quit killing the effects of the tequila. With each shot his beady little eyes became an instant sober alert. “Why are you watching the twin so closely?” I looked down to my left into the curious eyes of Xavier’s girl, Morgan. It was part of being so much taller than everyone else, and it didn’t help that she was a short little thing either. “The twin?” I asked with a smirk. “Yeah,” she shrugged, “I still have no clue how to tell which one is which.” “Corbin has a freckle on his upper —” She holds up her hand to stop me. “Truly, I don’t care. I’ll still call them twin one and two.” Did I mention she was a sassy little shit too? I wrapped my arm around her shoulder, fully expecting her to gut punch me as I dragged her toward her boy. Xavier saw us coming and immediately stepped away from the group of people he was talking to in order to pull her away and out of my hold. I chuckled, knowing just how much he hated for any of us to touch her, even if it was only the simplest of ways. Most of us did it often just to irritate the piss out of him. “Occupy your girl, she’s getting nosy.” I turned to walk away, feeling something collide with the back of my head. I looked back just in time to see an empty plastic water bottle bounce along the floor before rolling to a stop only a few inches away from Morgan’s feet. X chuckled as Morgan crossed her arms, challenging me in what I could only assume was some form of some girly stand - off. She’d been around for some time now and was beginning to act like her man. “I’m not nosy.” “What do you call it then?” “Curious.” “Same thing, and shit like that gets people thrown in pools.” “Are you threatening me?” She uncrossed her arms and placed them on her hips. I was just about to take a chance of being pummeled by my brother for throwing his crazy ass girl in the pool when I noticed another girl step closer to Morgan’s side. It was the brunette from Porter’s Pizza. The same brunette I’d seen in the place almost every time I visited, yet still didn’t know her name. I had seen her often, and fuck, the girl made me weak in the knees; that shit never happened to me. I did, however, enjoy observing her from afar. I knew this — I’d consumed more pizza over the last few weeks than I had in the last few years combined. I also knew the way her cheeks reddened when a man openly flirted with her; I had done that a hundred times it seemed but still hadn’t been formally introduced. I was intrigued by her, mesmerized even. I was feeling a little free tonight though so that might change. I watched as she continued looking between Morgan and me, and the last thing I wanted was for her to witness the pool dunk and think I was some dick. So instead I looked back toward Morgan and answered her question from earlier. “Clayton,” I say, pointing toward the beady - eyed fucker who was still watching me, “thinks he can outdo me. He’s the Sober Brother tonight and apparently, he thinks that he can pull the mother of all pranks.” “So, he’s planning on coming up with something bigger than permanent marker dicks on someone’s face, nipple piercings, naked twins on front porches, and blue dye in body wash?” She holds up her hands, counting off each item she named on her fingers. “The blue dye was me, babe,” Xavier corrected her and she waved him off. “Yeah, that’s the plan.” She looks behind her toward Clayton and he nods in agreement. “Well, this party may be worth staying at until the end just to see you suffer, Red. Payback is a bitch and these guys have a whole lot to give back.” That they did, but I wasn’t worried. “You actually pierced someone’s nipples?” The brunette asked that question as she wrinkled up her nose in confusion. “Yep,” Xavier announced before I could and grabbed the hem of his shirt to lift it and exposed the piercings he still wore. That was a prank that backfired; who knew the guy would have loved them? It was almost the same situation I had with my Prince Albert when I let my best friend convince me to get it done after our high school graduation. It turned out to be one of the craziest and most pleasurable things I had done, or so I’d been told. It was a secret I’d managed to keep hidden so far. “You did that?” I watch as the girl observed Xavier and suddenly I wanted to grab the shirt he still held high and pull it down. “I did,” I said, regaining her attention. “Why? You want yours done?”

Release Week Book Tour: Beautifully Chaotic

BEAUTIFULLY CHAOTIC by Natalie Barnes is NOW LIVE for 99c! Don't MISS out on the release week special!!!

When he was there,
My soul finally breathed its air.
My steps became lighter,
My heart beat faster.
Having my spirit dance,
Along the broken edges
That would be soon,
Deemed our last chance…
Begging to hold,
He must have thought I was
A part of that mold.
Only breaking free,
Now caused this suffering…

EXCERPT REVEAL:
“See ya, Katie.” He flashes me his grin right when the metal slams. The loud scream from his exhaust wakens his ride while I step back further. Giving him a small wave, I’m about ready to walk away when all of a sudden, I bump into someone.
“Oh, sorry,” I mumble then look up to see Claire smiling at me.
“That’s so nice. Motherfucker is actually dropping you off even though you own a beamer.” Her eyes move to his Blazer at the sound of Caleb’s exhaust blaring out of the parking lot.
“He stayed over last night.” Watching him as he takes off down the road, I feel Claire’s eyes burning a hole through the side of my head. My lip curls up, and I can’t help but tip my head at her.
“Shut the fuck up!” Claire squeals, clapping her hands, banging her chunky silver bracelets together. “He popped your cherry!”
“Claire!” Shooting my arm out, I yank down her wrist. “Shh…” Pressing my finger up to my lips, I quickly scan over my shoulders to make sure that no one around heard anything Claire said.
“What?” She waves her head to the side to brush back her hair. “Holy fuck, tell me about it!” Opening the doors, I keep my chin low but smile brightly while we walk in sync to my locker.
“I don’t know.” I shrug. “He came over last night.”
“Apparently came is the right word.” She laughs.
“Claire.” I snap my head at her but can’t help but laugh, too.
Rolling my eyes, I start working on the combination to my locker, Claire props her elbow up on the locker beside me.
“So, for real, how was it?” she leans in toward me and whispers. Not looking at her while I put my bag in, I’m able to breathe out, “Unreal…”

MEET THE AUTHOR:
Natalie Barnes was born in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan on a rainy, September Thursday. She grew up on the Bay Mills Indian Reservation in Michigan’s eastern upper peninsula.

Married with children, she started writing as a way to have downtime for herself. Never planning on publishing until her first piece was finished. That’s when it all changed.

Not even four months after publishing, “Everything I Want,” she left her full time job as Accounts Payable and took the dive into continuing her desire for storytelling.

When she isn’t losing it with her characters, she’s jamming out or combing the backroads of the Upper Peninsula countryside. Blueberry picking to two-tracking and gathering; anything that has to do with the outdoors, she’s into.

Natalie also has an eye for indie films. Connecting with a screenwriter a couple years ago, there’s now a screenplay based on her first novel out there. She’ll continue to see where that goes and in the meantime, plans on having screenplays written for all her tales.

Always creating, always telling a tale one way or another.

Release Week Book Tour: Healing Hope

HEALING HOPE by CA Harms is LIVE!
AMAZON US | AMAZON INT.

Hope Larsen is living each day of her life with a crippling guilt. The game of ‘what if’ has made it almost impossible to move forward from such a horrific event. In one life-changing moment, someone who meant so very much to her was taken. A man who once was her best friend. A man she fell in love with.

Now she must face the life she’d laid out before her alone, being reminded each day of his absence. The longing inside her, the desperation to be able to still love him without it hurting so much.

She just wanted to live without feeling the pain of losing Walker. But each time she attempted to move forward, there was that lingering thought that somehow she was tarnishing his memories.

Then he shows up. He waltzes right into her life as if he belongs. Strong, confident, and determined to make her see him.

When Travis Donovan crosses paths with the snarky blond, he’s intrigued. Her dismissal of him and his antics doesn’t have the effect she’d hoped for. In fact, it’s just the opposite. He’s not one to run scared from a challenge, but instead, he's the type to fight even harder to conquer it.

Though she tries to fight her attraction for the cocky electrician, she finds that his dedication fascinates her.

Over time, Hope comes to the realization that there’s one thing that scares her the most. Travis Donovan reminds her of the one she lost.

That stride, that smile, even the way he torments her…it’s all the same. He could be the one to show her that it's okay to move forward. It’s okay to love again.

Travis Donovan just might be the one to heal Hope.

EXCERPT

She was a fiery little thing.

She couldn’t have been more than five foot two, one hundred and ten pounds maybe, but that was even pushing it. Long blond hair, perfect tits. The woman definitely made this job a little more enjoyable, even if she was currently staring holes through my back. Or maybe it was my ass.

I look over my shoulder, and again I find her eyes focused on my backside.

Yep, most definitely staring holes in my ass.

“You almost finished?”

I try to hide my smile when I turn around to face her, but when I see her cheeks flush again, I can’t stop myself.

“What’s so funny?” She narrows her eyes, doing her best to appear unimpressed. I know poking at her only infuriates her more, but again, it was an impulse I couldn’t control.

“I was just wondering if you wanted to grab your phone.” My smile grew wider when she arched her brow. She looked confused and again it found it fueled me more. “You know, to snap a picture of my ass.” Her eyes narrowed and she stands in a hurry and takes a step toward me. “Now don’t go getting all mad at me, princess, you’re the one openly checking out my backside. I should feel violated.”

“I was not.”

Even if I wanted to believe her words, her eyes gave it all away. She couldn’t even look at me.

“This job was supposed to be done thirty minutes ago.” She chooses to move right over the earlier topic. “Are you sure you’re qualified for this job? Do you even know what you’re doing?”

I nod, loving once again that this woman thought she could outsmart me.

“Does your boss know about your work ethic?” Again she tries for stern and offended, and again she fails. She was an open book, and I was enjoying every fucking chapter. “I think he needs to know just how rude and obnoxious you are.”

“Maybe he does.” I shrug as I reach into my back pocket and pull out a card. Holding out my hand to her I watch as her gaze shifted. “Give him a call, princess, and tell him all about how you’re sexually harassing his employee.”

She jerked the card from me and instantly placed her other hand on her hip.

“I am,” she pauses. “I never.” I could see the battle in eyes. “I did no such thing.”

Shrugging again, I turn back toward the job and finished up with the last few things. “Whatever you say, Princess.”

I hear her practically growl in frustration, just before her feet beat against the floor to the other side of the room. Without turning around I imagine her seeking out her phone. My smile growing so wide it makes my cheeks ache as my phone begins to vibrate and ring on my hip.

Instead of answering it, I hang my head and do my very best to hide my chuckle.

With each ring, it grows harder to refrain and suddenly I’m hit in the back of the head with something soft.

Turning around, I look to the floor at my feet and see a light blue throw pillow. Ever so slowly, I lift my gaze and find a certain blonde with fire in her eyes staring back at me.

“Did you just throw a pillow at me?”

“Yes, I did.” She didn't even hesitate, “You should consider yourself lucky I didn’t go for the empty bottle instead.”

A moment of silence passes before she walks toward me once more and places a hand on each hip. The action alone pushes out her breasts, and it takes everything inside me not to lower my eyes.

“You are an ass.” The way she states this slowly enhances the humor once again. “For a business owner, I must say I’m surprised you are as credible as you are. You must spend most days in the office, otherwise, I’m sure it’d be hard to land a job.”

I stand before her, a screwdriver in one hand and a switch cover in the other, observing her every move. The way her nose wrinkles up as if she is confused by my lack of reaction to her words.

“And will you stop smiling?” Her words come out in more of a whine. I can almost visualize her stomping her foot.

“Why does my smile affect you?” I was rolling into dangerous territory here. Keeping things professional had never been a problem for me, until now. Messing with clients, or even renters of clients was something I never did. At this point though, it was addictive. This battle of wills between two stubborn people intrigued me. I liked the way she challenged me with just one simple look. “Does my smile make that fire inside you ignite? Does it make you feel something you don’t want to admit?” He taunted me a little more, and for a moment I slipped allowing him to see a trace of a smile tug at the corner of my lips.

That was my mistake, it was like throwing meat out for a hungry lion, it only gave him an invite to play a little more. “Tell me what part you like most?”

“You truly are an ass!” I hated how he affected me, but I also felt a spark of interest that I hadn’t felt in so long. His arrogance irritated me more than I should be allowing it to, but it reminded me so much of the person I had lost. The person I spend every day missing. They were alike in the way they held themselves, that confidence that gave them such a powerful impact on those around them. The mischievous glimmer in their eyes, it was all so much the same.

READ AN EXCERPT!
Arriving to Scottie’s early in the morning around 8:00, I settle on the couch, while he brings over about 14 bricks of cocaine, setting them on the coffee table in front of us.

“Remember those two guys that wanted a bunch of cocaine at the ski resort? Well, this is how much they wanted and I'm giving you half of the cut because you brought them in,” he tells me.

“Fucking right on man, that is uplifting for sure, I had a rough night talking to Megan last night,” I say to him. I realize I’m upset at the whole thing with Megan, but yet I’m still around cocaine. I need to figure out what I want, just not sure if I really want to settle down and work at a relationship. That never was my intention this young, but she is a great girl and I enjoy seeing her and her kids.

“She gets upset with you about the cocaine using and selling?” Scottie asks.

“Yeah, she caught me doing it in the bathroom at her place and she was pissed at me and kicked me out. We talked things out last night. She really wants me to just get my head out of my ass I guess. We are just not going to see each other this week until your party.” I can only hope she’ll even want to see me.

“Yeah, she really doesn’t like games so I can see her point, just need to figure it out, man. I really need you helping me in the business but if she doesn’t like you in it, you better figure things out. Also, I’m going to need you to deliver this stuff to their house on your own, I have other places to drop some coke off to,” Scottie said to me.

“Fuck, all right. I can do that; they seemed like pretty chill guys, so hopefully no issues with getting the money from them.”

“You know the drill, carry your gun just to be safe. I am out of here though,” tossing a duffle bag Scottie says, “Pack everything in this bag, get the money first then leave the bag and everything with them.”

“Got it bro, is it cool if I help myself to some of the extra cocaine you have laying out on the table?” I ask

“Yeah man, go for it as much as you want; be like Scarface if you want!” he tells me.

Scottie walking out the door, I finish packing up the duffel bag with the abundant amount of cocaine. I can't believe these guys want this much cocaine for a party, but hey, as long as we get money I don’t care what they do with it.

Lining up the extra powder Scottie left laying out on the mirror, I quickly take in four lines. Two to each nostril, getting that buzz I need for the day. Shortly after, I start getting the twitches, and the urge of restlessness. Grabbing the duffel bag, I head out the door to go make my delivery.

Shane Robert spent his whole life a Michigan native until he entered the United States Air Force after high school graduation. Traveling from San Antonio, Texas to Biloxi, Mississippi, he eventually found a new home as an Air Traffic Controller in Salt Lake City where his tower overlooks the mountains of Utah.

He spends the summer playing soccer and the winters skiing while studying Counter Terrorism at American Military University. You can often find him in the tattoo shop adding to his collection, or writing on his sofa with his feet up and the XBOX on in the background. If there's one thing he's good at doing, it's living in the moment.
