Review: In Your Dreams

For this review, I chose In Your Dreams (# 4 The Blue Herron Series) by Kristan Higgins

In the Blue Herron Series:
#1 The Best Man (read)
#2 The Perfect Match (read)
#3 Waiting on You (read)
#4 In Your Dreams (read)
#5 Anything for You

I did not received a copy of the ebook, but checked it out at the local library as an ebook.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Emmaline Neal needs a date. Just a date—someone to help her get through her ex-fiancĂ©'s wedding without losing her mind. But pickings are slim in Manningsport, New York, population 715. In fact, there's really only one option: local heartthrob Jack Holland. Everyone loves Jack, and he won't get the wrong idea…. After all, Jack Holland would never actually be interested in a woman like Em. Especially not with his beautiful ex-wife creeping around, angling to reunite ever since he rescued a group of teens and became a local hero.

But when the wedding festivities take an unexpectedly passionate turn, Em figures it was just one crazy night. Jack is too gorgeous, too popular, to ever end up with her. So why is she the one he can talk to about his deep, dark feelings? If Em is going to get her dream man, she'll have to start by believing in him…

I am trying to catch up on all of my favorite series.  This is another series I love to read.  This series I have Book #5, Anything for You, to read yet.  I think this is my favorite of the series. The cover is adorable and makes me want to get a German Shepherd, but do not tell that to my husband, who wants one.  We have huskies and I plan to get another one a few years down the road.

This series is based in Manningsport, New York.   Jack Holland is an EMT and wine maker.  He loves his town.  His ex wife did a number on him and he is trying to put his life back together.  The next thing he knows his ex wife is back into town trying to get him back.  Emmaline (love this name) is Deputy and loves her job and her pup, Sarge.  Emmaline needs a date for her ex-fiance.  I think Emmaline saved herself a big heart ache if she married that fiance. OMG.  He is something else.  I would definitely not go alone to this wedding.  Her ex-fiance is a fitness nut.  Yes, I am going to use the word nut because I am not sure how else to describe him.

Enters Jack playing her very handsome boyfriend on this trip to the wedding.  There is an attraction that they both feel.  Each of them has issues to work through.  Emmaline has feelings about her past that she needs to overcome.  Jack is struggling with PTSD from the rescue that he was at.  One of the boys that he rescue is in the hospital.  Will this boy be okay?  What will Jack do if he is not?

Great story.  Emmaline was my favorite character.  You could feel her pain with all she has gone through. She does not think Jack could like her.  She has self esteem issues.

I can not wait to read Book #5.  I have read the other books in this series.  I hope there are more books, too.

Review: The Chance

For this review, I chose  The Chance (#4 The Thunder Point Series) by Robyn Carr.

The Thunder Point Series
#1 The Wanderer (read)
#2 The Newcomer (read)
#3 The Hero (read)
#4 The Chance
#5  The Promise (read)
#6  The Homecoming (read)
#7 One Wish
#8 A New Hope
#9 Wildest Dreams

I did not received a copy of the ebook, but checked it out at the local library as an ebook.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
With its breathtaking vistas and down-to-earth people, Thunder Point is the perfect place for FBI agent Laine Carrington to recuperate from a gunshot wound and contemplate her future. The locals embraced Laine as one of their own after she risked her life to save a young girl from a dangerous cult. Knowing her wounds go beyond the physical, Laine hopes she'll fit in for a while and find her true self in a town that feels safe. She may even learn to open her heart to others, something an undercover agent has little time to indulge.

Eric Gentry is also new to Thunder Point. Although he's a man with a dark past, he's determined to put down roots and get to know the daughter he only recently discovered. When Laine and Eric meet, their attraction is obvious to everyone. But while the law enforcement agent and the reformed criminal want to make things work, their differences may run too deep…unless they take a chance on each other and find that deep and mysterious bond that belongs to those who choose love over fear.

This is one of the books I read in July and haven't had the time until now to get my review up.

I love this series, The Thunder Point.  This is my 6th book I have read in this series and I plan to read more.  This town of Thunder Point is a great little town where everyone helps each other out.

Eric is the Shop Owner of the restored classic cars shop.  Laine Carrington is a FBI agent taking some time off recovering from an injury.  She is a strong woman with a job that could intimidate men in her life.  There is stuff that they both have to work through.  Will they be able to work through these items in order to be together?  Eric has a dark past.  Laine is a FBI agent.  Can they be together?  Can she get past his past?

I will be reading the other books in this series.  I highly recommend all of the books I have read so far.

Review: Mamarazzi

For this review, I chose Mamarazzi by Brooke Williams.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Danica Bennett isn't sure what she hates more...her job or the fact that she's good at it. As one of the many Hollywood paparazzi, she lives her life incognito and sneaks around trying to get the best shot of the latest star. When she is mistaken for an extra on a new, up and coming TV show, her own star rises and she becomes the one in the photographs. Add that to the fact that she's falling for her co-star, Eliot Lane, and Danica is in a whole heap of trouble.

This book was different from what I have read.  I do not think I have ever read a book on paparazzi.  Here we have Danica Bennett as Mamarazzi.  She is very good at her job, but her conscience has been getting to her.  She has to continue because of her bills and she has her mother's bills, too.  When Danica sneaks onto a tv show, they think she is the extra they are missing.  One of the stars, Eliot Lane can not keep his eyes off of her and their chemistry is seen by everyone in this scene.  What happens now?  She is Mamarazzi.  She meets Eliot and likes him.  How can she continue doing what she does for a living?  She was beginning to realize that she does not want the actor and actresses to hate her.  But, Danica did what she had to in order to survive.  Now she is living with this huge secret.  The attraction that Eliot has to Danica is not leaving.  Danica feels it, too, but what about her huge secret if she is getting too close to him?  Will he be ok or run the other way when he found out?  All Danica wants to do is to take photos of the celebrities professionally done.  Not like she has been.  They would come to her.

Great story.  I love Brooke William's writing.  Her books are always well written.  Each one of her books I have read I have enjoyed a lot.  I can not wait to read more from her.

While I was reading this book, I was thinking about how celebrities liked having paparazzi following them around.  Not having any privacy.  I wonder if all/any/some Paparazzi regretted what they did for a living? Especially when it dealt with celebrities and their children?  I know I could not do this.

Review: Eclipse Lake

For this review, I chose Eclipse Lake by Mae Clair, which is the first book I read by this author.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Small towns hold the darkest secrets.

Fifteen years after leaving his criminal past and estranged brother behind, widower Dane Carlisle returns to his hometown on the banks of sleepy Eclipse Lake. Now, a successful businessman, he has kept his troubled past a secret from most everyone, including his seventeen-year-old son.

But memories in small towns are bitter and long.

Ellie Sullivan, a nature photographer for a national magazine, has a habit of ping-ponging across the map. Her latest assignment leads her to Eclipse Lake where she becomes caught up in the enmity between Dane, his brother Jonah, and a vengeful town sheriff. When freshly-discovered skeletal remains are linked to an unsolved murder and Dane’s past, Ellie is left questioning her growing attraction for a man who harbors long-buried secrets.

This was my first book by Mae Clair and I was not disappointed.  I love books about redemption.  It was about forgiveness and second chances.  The bitterness between Jonah and Dane was awesome.  Will Jonah forgive his brother?  Will they be able to work through all their issues?

Besides the Redemption, we have mystery, romance, and suspense.  What is the story behind the skeletal remains that was found?  Who is this person?  How did he/she die?  Was this person murdered?  Who did it?

This book had me hooked from the start.  I had to know the answers to all of my questions.  I highly recommend it.

Review: Death and Desire

For this review, I chose Death and Desire by PH Turner, which is the first book I have read by this author.  This is Book #1 in The Nation series.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Reporter Taylor McWhorter knows something is going on at the newly reopened uranium mine on the local Navajo reservation. The Native workers are being fired. Rumors of bad Native American spirits and shapeshifters mingle with the stink of leach pit mining. The rough red mountains and steep canyons hide more passes and getaway trails than any maze. And Taylor’s sources keep turning up dead…

Until she meets Captain Trace Yazzie, head of the tribal police force and plenty to reckon with on his own. The chemistry between them is enough to incinerate Taylor’s rule about mixing business and pleasure. But with a murderer on the loose, priceless Navajo artifacts turning up in the wrong places, and Trace’s suggestion that spirits disturbed from looted burial sites might be part of the problem, Taylor can’t afford to lose her head to lust. This might be the story of the year. But unless she keeps her wits about her, it could be the last one Taylor ever tells…

When I first read the description, I was intrigued by the mystery behind it all, but also the Navajo legend.  I love to learn about other cultures and the Navajos that I have read about in other books I have enjoyed a lot, but also the added paranormal made the book interesting to me.

Taylor is a Reporter and is investigating a mine on the local Navajo reservations where she meets Trace Yazzie, who is an Indian Police Chief.  There is a passionate spark between the 2 of them.

The shapeshifter that Taylor sees is frightening, but it had me on the edge of my seat.  I could picture it all.  The history behind this and the Navajos are one with their land and ancestors.  I could not put this book down.  Once I started reading, I was hooked.

I can not wait to read Book #2, Winterkill, according to Amazon.

Review: Devon Drake, Cornerback

For this review, I chose Devon Drake, Cornerback.  This is Book #4 in the First & Ten Series.  Book #1 is Griff Montgomery, Quarterback.  Book #2 is Buddy Carruthers, Wide Receiver.  I have read and reviewed Book #2 & 3.  Book #3 is Pete Sebastian, Coach.  I must read book #1.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Devon Drake, star cornerback, has it all: hot super model girlfriend and pro football career, or does he? A childhood friend wanders back into his life, upsetting his ideal existence. Is it finally time to tell her the truth about what happened fifteen years ago?
Stormy Gregory is on the run from an abusive man. Her best friend offers her a safe place at the shelter for abused women and children. Grateful to be out of harm’s way, Stormy helps with a charitable event, not expecting to run into Devon Drake, her friend’s brother. Will she run again rather than face rejection?
Cracks in his perfect world threaten the cornerback’s starting lineup status. An unwelcome surprise short-circuits Stormy’s attempt to build a new life. Can they pull together or will the secret that separates the former friends keep them on a downward spiral?

I really enjoyed this book, but I thought it did not have enough about Stormy and Devon.  There was a lot of the other characters from the other 3 books.  It was nice to get to know Griff since I have not read that book, but plan to.

Devon and his sister, Sam, have known Stormy since they were kids.  Devon realizes that he should not have lost Stormy like he did and he had the best woman.  Now what will he do?  He is in the middle of training camp.

I want to know about Sam.  I can not wait to read the next book!

Deciding he's too damaged, he begs off further entanglement, but then meets her again a month later at a family wedding, where the unavoidable attraction pulls them together as never before. Will their love be enough to heal them both for a chance at a Happily Ever After?

In this book, we got a lot.
SEALs
Brotherhood
Passion
Heat
Family
Suspense
Loyalty
Intrigue
Sadness
Action
Excitement

Luke is a SEAL and is having some issues once he return home from overseas.  He has PTSD and is getting help.  He meets Julie on the beach and they share a passionate night together, but he runs off afterwards.  Why?  Is there more to him than we see?  Has he lost someone he loved?  Why is he so haunted?

They meet again at a wedding.  I will not tell you who's wedding because the surprises is much better when you read or listen it yourself!! Will Luke be able to feel better?  Will they make their way to one another?

My favorite character is Julie.  She is patient with Luke when she desperately wanted him.  She knows that he will come to him when he is ready.  They have great chemistry.

Love the voices by JD Hart!!  His voice was calming this time.  I can not describe it.

Review: Reality Check

For this review, I chose Reality Check by JL Locey.  This is book #4 in the To Love a Wildcat series.  Here are the other books in the series:
Book #1- Pink Pucks and Power Plays.
Book #2- A Most Unlikely Countess
Book #3- O Captain, My Captain
Book #4- Reality Check
Book #5- Language of Love
Book #6- Final Shifts

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
The team owner/head coach relationship can be a tenuous one at times. Isabelle Lancourt can testify to just how stressful it can be. Ever since her husband passed away, leaving her his beloved Wildcats, she and Philip Moore have been at loggerheads. When the opportunity to sign a Russian hotshot presents itself, Isabelle leaps at the chance to prove herself as more than just a pretty face.

Dealing with hot flashes, salary caps, and trade deadlines she can handle with ease. The aftermath of an ill-advised, but erotically superb, rendezvous in Siberia with the handsomely annoying Coach Moore? That was not in any Wildcats playbook. Can Isabelle and Philip handle the changes life is about to throw at them? Or will combining their personal and professional lives prove to be a misconduct penalty that the league simply cannot overlook?

Isabelle Lancourt is the owner of the Wildcats and she feels she shouldn't have a relationship with the coach, Phillip Moore.  Things get pretty steamy in Siberia when they both are there to recruit a player for the Wildcats.  Isabelle is a strong classy woman, who lost her husband, and Phillip lost his wife.

I loved that this was about the owner and coach instead of a player.  It was a different version for us to read.  I can not wait to read book #5.  My favorite part of the book was the surprises.  I can not say too much because it would give it away.

Review: Light My Fire

For this review, I chose Light My Fire by Kristina Knight, which is my first book by this author.  This book is the first book in the Rockers series.
Book #2- Start Me Up
Book #3- Call Me

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Lily MacIntyre needs to shed her sitcom teen-queen image if she's going to carve out a real career in Hollywood. A tabloid-worthy fling with rocker Nate Lansford--her childhood friend and new cohost of a reality talent show--should do it. As long as she can accept that the notorious player will be moving on to the next eager conquest when the season wraps.

Long before Nate's hard-hearted image took hold, he and Lily were each other's protectors and allies. No one knows him the way she does--and he doesn't want his messed-up past to muddy up her potential. For once, the bad boy is trying to be good. Not easy when the good girl is getting wicked with him in the back of his limo and every white-hot kiss proves they can never be "just friends" again…

This book has a good storyline.  A good girl, Lily, wants a Bad Boy, but she only wants Nate, who's been her friend since grade school.  Does he feel the same way?  Does he see her beyond their childhood friendship and accept her as a grown woman?  Does he want her?  Lily is Nate's best friend's sister.  Will that stop him?

Lily wants to get rid of the good girl image that she created from her tv show, The Rayne Show.  Her co star is telling everyone that it's her fault for the show being cancelled, but in reality it ------- Read the book!!

Nate is a guest panelist on the new reality show, Star Power, and Lily is their co-host.  Now that they have to work together, Lily hopes she can change his mind about her.

A little too short, but I liked this book.

Review: Teacher: The Final Act

For this review, I chose Teacher: The Final Act by RL Merrill. This is the final book in the Hollywood Rock n Romance Triology. Book #1 is called The Teacher. Book #2 is called The Teacher: Act 2. Both great books.  I couldn't wait to read this book.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
In Teacher, Jesse Martin gets sucked into the vortex that is the life of Danny Black, rock god and lead singer of the metal powerhouse, Blackened. She thought she was just taking a home instructor position for the summer, but things got complicated quickly as she and Danny fell madly in love. In Act Two, the lovers maneuvered the tricky path from dating to living together, with pitfalls at every turn. At the end of Act Two, we left our lovers on a dark precipice. Jesse’s doubts and the chaos of Danny’s life threatened to tear them apart. Instead, they are now closer than ever and ready to take that next step. But nothing will ever be easy for our teacher and her rock god, including planning the perfect wedding. A jilted colleague from Danny’s past, a desperate ex, a potentially fatal tragedy, a remodel, a parent-teacher conference, illness, a drag queen, and many many more obstacles are piled in their path. Will Jesse and Danny ever find their happily ever after or will they forever be as those famous doomed lovers, kept apart by circumstances beyond their control?

FOR READERS 18+ Due to language, incredibly steamy sexual situations, and continued hijinks by the hairy, perverted neighbors!

I have a lot to write about this book. But not sure where to start.  First, it's great to be back with Jesse, Danny, and Janey.  It's sad that this is the last book of this series. I would love to see a book about Cosmo.

Jesse has many fears she needs to overcome before she can give into the idea of being Mrs Danny Black and that that entitles. She is used to taking care of herself and not relying on anyone for help. She needs to let Danny help her more.

As you can tell, Jesse is my favorite character in this book. She's a strong woman, who tells you like it is. Living with RA, she lives in pain. There's days where is struggles with moving. I am like Jesse. I live in chronic pain with good and bad days. My husband is like Danny.  Always taking care of me. Another way I am like Jesse is when she was talking about her desk.  She says "I walked through the library and decided my desk needed some unlcuttering, a task I often did when I was avoiding paperwork. "  (88%).  My desk goes through a cycle. Uncluttered to cluttered to uncluttered to cluttered. It's always due to paperwork.

Danny and Jesse had too many obstacles to get through. I believe more to come in their marriage. As I read the end (91%), I was remembering marrying Shawn almost 19 years ago. We have had many obstacles. I know there will be more to come, but they are not obstacles to me, but moments that made us stronger together than apart.

Not only I recommend this book, but the first 2 books too.  I want to read Road Trip: A Rock Season from this author.

Terrorists take over the ship and hold the passengers for ransom, Marc and the other SEALs are the only ones who can stop the plot. Will Marc’s actions be enough to save Sophia or will he have to sacrifice himself to save the woman he loves?

In this book/Audio, we got a lot.
SEALs
Brotherhood
Passion
Heat
Family
Suspense
Loyalty
Intrigue
Sadness
Action

Mark Beale is a SEAL with SEAL Team 3 and is so sad since he lost what he thinks was his soul mate.  The team is in Italy and they all take a  Mediterranean cruise as their vacations with their ladies before they get deployed again. Mark meets Sophia Negri  in Italy before he left on the cruise.  She speaks no english to him, but their bodies did a lot of talking!!  She sees him again on the cruise ship.  He finds out a couple of things about her.  Is this the woman for Mark to help him forget about the woman he lost?  Can Sophia leave the man she is to marry?

I love reading or listening to series.  We learn about the characters from earlier books.  I am not going to say a word about what I learned since you have to go read this book!

Review: Five Things I Love About You

For this review, I chose Five Things I Love About You by Sarah Ballance.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Five things to love about NYC. But she only needs one...

California landscape artist Estelle Donovan hates big cities. Between the grime, the smell, all the drab concrete, and the suffocating summer heat, how can anyone breathe? Housesitting her brother's New York apartment, complete with broken elevator and smoking air conditioner, is her kind of hell. It's only for two weeks, though. What could possibly go wrong?

Dumping a jar of pickles on the hot girl at the grocery store wasn't Crosby Chase's finest hour, nor was getting bitten in the butt by the demonic cat on her fire escape. But he is going to change her mind about his beloved city, damn it. In fact, if they could just make it five minutes without falling into bed, he bets Estelle he can find five things she'll love about New York.

Falling in love wasn't part of his plan. And with an entire country between them, Crosby realizes he doesn't need five reasons to make Estelle love New York.

He needs one big reason to make her stay...

This book reminds me if you find someone that makes you go weak at the knees and turns your life upside down, you must not let that person go.

Crosby meets Estelle in the grocery store by dumping a jar of pickles over her.  Not only is she hot from the heat, but now she smells like pickles.  What a way to meet a guy!!

I love how Crosby wants the chance to have Estelle fall in love with New York City.  So, they have a bet that he can come up with 5 things she will love, but he realizes he only needs one reason for her to stay- to love him.  Will Estelle fall in love with Crosby and stay in a city that she thinks is not her?  Will she leave her mother's garden in California, the last piece she has of her mother, for a man?

Book #6- Final Shifts

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Being a single working mother isn`t easy. Just ask Maggie Charles. She`s juggling a job she hates, a rebellious teenage son, and the aftereffects of an abusive first marriage. There isn`t room in her life for a love affair, not that anyone would want to romance someone her age anyway, right? So why, after all these months, when she runs into the strapping Wildcats` captain at a charity event, does the sight of Derrick Andersson leave her so breathless once again? Is that really desire burning in the captain`s green eyes when he looks at her? Is it possible for a couple of been-there-and-done-thats to find love the second time around?

Maggie Charles is a single mother to a teenager that is troubled.  Maggie thinks she should put what she wants on hold so she can make the best life for her son, Trevor.  Maggie is divorced from an abusive marriage.  She wants to protect her son from what they lived through.

I feel for Maggie.  Not the abusive marriage, but the struggling to get by.   Maggie is a hardworking strong mother, who wants the best for her family.  Is Derrick that?  Their chemistry is ignitable.  They are very attracted to one another, but Maggie has been pushing him away.  Will she give into their attraction or will she runaway?

I think Maggie and Derrick are meant for one another.  When Maggie met him (book #1), she feels something for Derrick, but can't.  She needs to put her son first.  But, months go by and she sees him again.  All of those feelings are stronger than better.  Should she fight those feelings or go for it?

I hope we find out more about Trevor and Ashley in the next book, Reality Check.

Review: Adopted: Family in a Million

For this review, I chose  Adopted: Family in a Million by Barbara McMahon.

I did not received a copy of the ebook, but checked it out at the local library as an ebook.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
When Zack Morgan discovers he's a father, and that his little boy was given up for adoption, he decides to find him. He has to know his son is okay.Life is a struggle for single mom Susan Johnson, but she loves being Danny's mother. When Zack unexpectedly comes into their lives, he lights up their world.

Zack intended to keep his distance, but he's found the family of his dreams. Only, Susan has no idea who he really is....

This was a good book.  A good storyline.  Zack finds out that he has a son and the mother put him up for adoption.  He decides to find him.  The private investigator finds him.  The mother lost her husband and is struggling.  He learns what life could be like.  You know, one with a family.  He grew up differently.

I had so many questions when I was reading this book.  What happens if Susan find out who Zack really is?  Would she be mad?  I am thinking hell yea!  I would be.  I would want to know why he didn't say anything?  How would you feel if your adopted son's biological father came looking to see if "his" son was happy and healthy?  But, he never tells you about the real reason.  He continues coming around with you thinking it was fate.  Was it fate?  Is he afraid to tell her?
