Happy Holidays!!

The only author I have read before in this box set is Reana Malori.   My favorites in this box set are:
-A Home for Christmas
-Fruitcake
-Christmas in Canada
-A Little Christmas Sugar
-Renewal

Each of my favorites offered something different.  Like a tiger shifter, talk about fruitcake and women, being afraid to show who you truly are to those who love you, meeting "the one" can change the way you see yourself in your future, fight for the one you love no matter what.

I have found some new authors I want to read now.  Each other gave some links and I plan to check them out sometime in the next few days.  I hope I find some books to add to my TBR list on Goodreads.

I give this box set 4 stars because of the grammar errors.  I could ignore it a couple times, but it was happening a lot.  The wrong pronouns were used in the one story (I can not remember which one).  I hope these authors will go back and re-read their work and correct the typos/grammar error.  I did not see these errors in every story.

☆☆☆☆
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Review: SEAL Brotherhood: Lucas

For this review, I chose SEAL Brotherhood: Lucas, which is in the Band of Brothers Series and is Book #1 by Sharon Hamilton.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Full length novel, over 250 pages with bonus material.

Special Operator Lucas Shipley thought his troubles were past him, when he discovers they've only just begun. Recently separated from his wife of five years, he gets some unwelcomed news. He thought his living arrangement, with four other separated or divorced buddies from SEAL Team 3, was temporary. Now, he understands he has to move on with his life.

Marcy Gelland is one of the smartest, most successful realtors in San Diego County. She's hired by Lucas' soon-to-be ex-wife to help her liquidate their joint holdings and help orchestrate a speedy departure from Lucas' life. Based on what Marcy's been told, Lucas deserves any amount of pain she or her client can dish out to him.

But when they are left alone together in the remote Northern California woods, they ignite a personal bonfire that threatens to burn down the whole forest. Marcy is forced to see she has been misled.

Amidst the backdrop of hardened bachelor SEALs with their unsolicited, anti-long- term relationship advice, and a criminal gang operating nearby, Lucas must do what he's always done and never gotten proper credit for: be the hero that saves the day.

I love Navy SEALs.  I have read a lot of Sharon Hamilton's book.  I was a little disappointed that Lucas was married throughout this book, but once I read more about his wife, Connie, I understood completely what went wrong.  Connie is something else!!  Marcy is so sweet and kind.  Complete opposite of Connie.  Connie was not right for Lucas, but Marcy was.  Marcy was his other half.  She's supportive of who Lucas is- A SEAL.

Review: The Octopuppy

For this review, Ethan and I read The Octopuppy by Martin McKenna that I won from Goodreads  First Reads .  I received a copy of the hardcover book for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
Can the OCTOPUPPY be the perfect pet?

Edgar wanted a dog. Instead, he got an octopus named Jarvis.

Jarvis is brilliant and does his best to act like the dog Edgar wants, but nothing he does is good enough to please Edgar. Ultimately, Edgar recognizes that while Jarvis might not be the dog he wanted, he is special in his own endearing way.

Young readers will love the funny, imaginative illustrations that are paired with a relatable lesson of appreciating the greatness of what we have in front of us.

Ethan and I read this together.  Ethan loved this book, which is colorful and very well written with great drawings.  Edgar wanted a dog, but instead he got an octopus named Jarvis.  Edgar realized he had an octopuppy that could do many things.

Noah"s Reading Review #2: The Little Penguin

Another review from February 2012.  It got lost when I moved my reviews over here.

Here it is:

Noah picked out the book

The Little Penguin
by A.J. Wood

Noah read to Bolt, Zeus, & me.

This book is about a little Penguin growing from baby penguin to big penguin.  When Little Penguin is in his egg, his dad says to him "We will be safe and warm here while you grow stronger, said Big Penguin." Once Little Penguin is born, he learns several things like tobogganing, & molting.

"Unlike most other birds, penguins can't fly. They waddle on land and swim in the sea. When swimming fast, they jump out of the water every few meters, just like dolphins do. This is called porpoising.
On ice there is another method penguins sometimes use: tobogganing. They lie down on their belly and glide along like a toboggan, using their flippers and feet to push themselves forward." (link)

"Once a year, penguins shed their feathers and grow new ones. This is called molting. The old feathers come off in patches and at the same time new feathers grow. This takes about three weeks and during this period the penguins do not eat nor swim." (link)

Little penguin meets:
1. a huge bird that was not nice to him.
2.a seal.  They talked about his feathers & Little Penguin better ready up before he loses all his feathers.

This was a cute book.  Noah's loved it.  I think Zeus & Bolt loved it, too.  We did not hear a word, whine, bark, or even howl out of them!  lol!  Zeus howls.  Bolt does the whining, barking, & he does howl at times.  I have this feeling these 2 will howl together when Bolt is older!

Keep Reading!  Noah just picked out 1 book tonight.  I thought we would read about Huskies, but I was wrong.  I should had known it would be about penguins!

Noah's Reading Review #1

I found this in my drafts from February, 2012.  I had published it back then, but I moved my reviews over here and it got lost.

Here it is:

Noah, Ethan, & I had our Reading Night tonight.  Noah wanted to do a review on this books.  He told me tonight he did not want to be a race car driver when he grows up, but a teacher.  I asked him about a professional soccer player.  Noah said he still wants to do that.  He can go to college, play soccer, & get his degree so he can teach.  I think his teacher, Miss D., has influenced him a lot.  Noah just started this school on January 2.  It is only January 22.

These are the books that the boys picked out.

How Deep is the Sea?
by Anna Melbourne

Noah picked out this book.  It is about a penguin named Pipkin with big ideas.  He wanted to find the bottom of the Sea.  What is the biggest creature of the Sea? The whale.  Pipkin met during his wonderful adventure was:
1. whale
2. twinkle creatures
3. saltie sea dog
4. seal who was trying to catch some fish.

Pipkin said to his mom that the sea was very very deep.  Noah said this book is fiction fake.  I think he said this because the penguin, Pipkin was going down to the bottom of the sea in a submarine.  We all know that a penguin does not travel in a submarine, but swims in the sea!

Noah picked out this book, Lego Star Wars: Darth Maul's Mission.  He loves Star Wars!

Noah thinks these quotes are funny:
1. Qui-Gon Jinn says "did you do your homework?" Luke Skywalker says "Yes, but a wookiee ate it!"

2. Qui-Gon Jinn says "Hey, Little Red Riding Hood, Are you on the way to your Grandma's House?" Then Darth Maul says "Oh, that's funny.....because I'm red and I wear a hood.  Real Original Guys."

3. Luke says "Attaaack!" and Darth Maul says "Poo-Doo!"

I will be doing this review since Ethan picked out the next book called Disney Comics Collection The World of Cars, which was a birthday gift from his Aunt & Uncle.

It had 4 small stories in it: Dirty Jobs, Pit-Stopped, Clean Machine, & Runnin' in Reverse!

Dirty Jobs was about the town folks wants to repaint the mural because of the paint peeling. Doc & Red did the mural in the end of the story.  It turned out beautiful.  It reminds me of the mural I did for Ashleigh when she was little.  I did 2 walls of Pooh & his friends.  This summer I will be doing one for Noah & another one for Ashleigh.  It will not be big, but on the small sice.

Pit-Stopped was about Mater joining Lightening's Pit Crew.  Some of his Pit Crew was happy & so was not so happy until Mater made Lightening come in for a Pit Stop by towing him in!!  Doc says to Lightening "You Still glad to have him aboard, hot rod?" Lightening says "Uh...Well, I...."

Clean Machine! is about Lightening being dirty from racing & he needing to get clean for a date with Sally.  The guys helped him get clean! Mater was helping Lightening with ideas with where to take Sally on his date.

Runnin' in Reverse! is about a nightmare that Lightening keeps having about racing in reverse.  Everyone in town was teasing him.  Lightening says to himself, "I must still be dreaming---Thanks to Mater and his backwards driving!"

All 3 books were very good.  The kids enjoyed them & so did I.

Keep Reading!  These 3 books do not count for any challenges we are in.  They are not on my TBR list. Not ebooks.   Noah knows we do a review so this time he wanted to do the review.

Review: Mistletoe Mantra

For this review, I chose Mistletoe Mantra by Nana Malone.

I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.

Here is a brief description from Goodreads:
'Tis the season for finding passion and rediscovering love…

Mistletoe Mantra by Nana Malone

Returning to her Virginia hometown where her fiancé dumped her—years earlier on Christmas Eve—is making Nomi Adams croon the holiday blues. She needs to find the reclusive photographer who can advance her magazine career. However, Lincoln Porter's on his own rescue mission this yuletide. Because during this season of love and renewal, Faith, Virginia, looks to be a place for second chances…

White Hot Holiday by Sherelle Green

A solo Caribbean vacation is college professor Sage Langley's perfect escape from Christmas and all its merriment. But she has unexpected and thrilling company at Grayson Ellington's luxurious vacation home: the sexy attorney himself! And her brother's best friend—who has desired and longed for Sage for years—has fantasies and plans for a red-hot romance to chase away her winter doldrums.

This book is in a book called Wrapped in Red.  I only read this one, but I would love to read Hot White Holiday by Sherelle Green.  This book was different.  It was not the normal boy meets girl, and they have issues to make it back to one another.  This time the girl goes home after being away for 5 years.  There was no idea that romance would be in the picture.

Nomi was 17 when she left home the last time after having her heart broken by Brad.  Now she is back successful.  Nomi is back for her job at a magazine to find Nolan Polk, who is living in her hometown.  She can not seem to find any information on him, but about his photos.  Nomi catches up with her best friend, Jilly, and her twin brother, Lincoln.  Lincoln picked her up at the train station and helps her to find Nolan.

I love that this is based around Christmas time.  It made me to look forward to Christmas with my family.  I loved this book!

Have you read Sacrifice by Reana Malori yet?

Blurb
Monica Banks and Tyler Green have spent the better part of a year being sarcastic, caustic, and halfway in love with one another. What will Monica do once Tyler gets tired of waiting and makes the first move? Little does she know, he’s not just looking for some short-term fun. With Monica, he wants forever.

Gunnery Sergeant Tyler Green never made apologies for who he was, and wasn’t about to start now. People either accepted him just the way he was, or they didn’t. And he’d always been okay with that. Then he’d met her and his world was turned upside down. Monica Banks captured his attention from day one and had never let go. Patience was never one of Tyler’s virtues, but he knew that Monica would need time to get used to the idea of being with him and everything that came with it. Telling Monica how he felt about her was all Tyler could focus on and after a year of holding back, he was done waiting.

Staff Sergeant Monica Banks had experienced loss as a young child and promised herself she would never love someone enough that she would lose herself. Watching her father mourn the loss of her mother had colored her view of love, and what it would mean to ever lose that person. And then, Tyler Green had walked into her life. Like a bull in a china shop, he crashed through every barrier she erected, tearing down her resistance little by little. Soon, he was the only man she could see herself loving.

Tyler and Monica must find their way to each other, all while battling their own stubborn will, dealing with an obsessive stalker not willing to let Monica go, and understanding that loving someone with everything you are, doesn’t mean sacrificing yourself in the process.

Excerpt
Monica burst out laughing, “You don’t give up, do you?”
“Give up on you? Never. This weekend may be off limits, but you can trust and believe, I will never give up. And until you tell me you no longer want me, I will do everything I can to help you see that we belong together.”
Laughing at his choice of words, she walked over to the window and looked out at the scene in front of her, “Confident aren’t you? I never said I wanted you in the first place.” Sound reached her from across the room and she knew he was getting out of his chair and coming in her direction. Knowing what he did for a living, he was taking extra pains to create noise as he approached her. Her heart melted a little knowing that he was trying to be careful around her. There was no need for him to do so, but she thought it was sweet all the same.
“Sweetness, yes...you did,” he whispered in her ear as he clasped her upper arms within his hands and pulled their bodies flush. His strong chest cradled her as she leaned into him, relaxing into his strength.
“When did I tell you this? I don’t recall any conversation where I said ‘Tyler, I want you,’ or words to that effect,” she said with a sigh of pleasure at his touch. Of course, she thought it a million times, but the words had never left her mouth and that, she was certain of.
“Oh, baby, you told me last night. Don’t you remember?” he asked her as he pressed his body closer to hers.
His gravelly voice filled her ears as she froze at his words. Oh, fuck, he had heard her last night as he walked past her room. “Last night?” she said in a low voice. Yup, stupid is as stupid does, and today, she was adopting that motto as her own. Deny! Deny! Deny!
Soft lips brushed the skin underneath her ear and she shivered in his arms. But she stopped short of moving away from him. Her body had simply refused to pull away and for once, she was not listening to her brain, which was screaming at her to walk away. At this moment, she was simply allowing herself to feel. And feel she did. There was a hardness pressing into her lower back and it seemed to be getting larger and harder by the second. Hell, if she could feel this much of him through his sweatpants as they were simply standing, what would he feel like up close and personal...and very, very naked.

What Fans Are Saying

-I don't think I've ever read a hero more perfect than Tyler Green! I would be a completely happy woman if this man jumped out of the pages of this book and started talking to me like he talks to Monica. I found myself sighing out loud on several occasions. And Monica...who doesn't love a strong and capable heroine with a hint of vulnerability? I swear the author took thoughts right out of my head and put them in Monica's. It was so easy to fall in love with both the hero and heroine. ~Amazon Reviewer

-You can feel the sexual tension when these two are together. Both are strong individuals accustomed to being in control. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the thoughts going through Monica's head. And, Tyler.....goodness gracious! That Marine is pure alpha male! When they finally get together, it was straight up fireworks. Tyler's pillow talk will have you turning up the air. Every girl needs a Tyler. ~Amazon Reviewer
